For basic appliance not over 900 watts great to have. Wish for one that goes up to 2.0 Kwatts. Otherwise 5 stars.

This a small but great electrical tool every homeowner should have.
You can really find out how much power each of your appliance or tool is using.
It is good to test and make a note of the power each item is using. It will be useful in the event of power failure, and you want run the tools or appliances in your home with a generator.

What a great way to research energy cost and drain your typical household appliances use. I tested mine on lights and power tools and really think this could be something to try throughout the house to see where my energy bill is going to and what simple things I could do to save electricity. Easy design and straight-forward operation. fairly quick reading during operation.

Honestly, I never knew how curious I could become about how my appliances use electricity until I gave this a try... One of the things I had been wondering around my home was with recent additions of two different aquariums, and noticing that each had around 4 or 5 things plugged into it, I was really concerned with the level of electricity they would use. This tool gives you several different ways to track and monitor usage and it is dead simple to use!!

This item does not require any tools or batteries. Just plug it in then plug and electric item into it. It will keep track of how long it has been plugged in and also record the electricity used. To reset it simply unplug it and plug it back in. We have used it on two refrigerators, a heated waterbed and all the other electronic devices in our home. Based on the changes we have made this item will pay for itself in about five weeks. This item also alerted us to a malfunction in an item that could potentially have caused a fire.

If you've ever wondered how much electricity an electrical appliance/tool/computer/light was actually using, this thing is the bomb. Just plug the appliance into the unit and it'll tell you the power consumption. I'm not sure you'd want to plug a high-draw tool like a skill-saw into it as that may be more than it's designed to handle, but go ahead and post your results.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Sld3313 Helpful Tool to Determine Usage
I was so excited to try this monitor on my refrigerator to see electricity usage. The monitor displays many different items, volt, amp, watt, Hz & KWH. This is a good tool to use to see what items in our home use the most KWH. The only downside is this cannot be used with an electrical extension cord. What refrigerator plugs into a socket you can see? You have to view the readings while the monitor is plugged in. That makes it almost impossible to use for a refrigerator without pulling out the refrigerator and taking readings while the monitor is plugged in. There is no memory, so when unplugged, you lose the readings. This is a good idea, but really only useful on items where you can get your face to the plug to read the output.

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by DickyD Poorly LIT Kilowatt LED Indicator
Directions for use very vague and difficult to understand how to use product. LED indicator very dim and difficult to read. Because most wall outlets are 14" from the floor, one has to get on hands and knees to read the LED, coupled with it being very dim makes it very difficult to read.
