Product Overview

Our Victoria White Vinyl Screen Door is a great way to add classic, traditional style to your home. Our door is made from low-maintenance, durable foam core vinyl and is also easy to trim (up to 1 in. on each side, top and bottom). The screen is a charcoal color, puncture-resistant fiberglass. Vinyl doors are a great alternative to traditional wooden screen doors, which can be susceptible to rod and fading over time. The support bar inside the door's stiles provides additional strength and hardiness, making this door a great investment. Please Note: Hardware is not included.

It comes with spring hinges. I installed mine with a door closer that I purchased separately and I can recommend doing that.

We need a Rep Here!!! The description and so many other things say that the door can be trimmed all the way around, and yet there are no written or video instruction showing or explaining how to trim it and with what... Has ANYONE ever attempted to trim this thing? There is no way to contact the manufacturer, but the manufacturer Rep seems to answer some of these questions, can he answer this one??? How and with what do you trim this thing???

Ok, here's the answer to everyone's question for the last 2 years: Trimming The Screen The instructions say you can cut ¾ or 1 inch all the way around depending on which instructions you read or watch… Here's the truth: This is a plastic foam around a wood frame… The foam DOES NOT adhere to the wood, so if you trim down to the wood you will end up with exposed wood surrounded by a plastic that is NOT adhered and will most probably flex in the heat differently than the wood After getting my Home Depot to agree to take it back if I cut it as allowed and it fails, I made the cut. I only cut ¼ inch off the bottom and I was left with a solid plastic with the rough finish that you would expect with cut closed-cell foam… For me that's fine… It doesn't compromise the waterproofing and, since you can't see it, the look of the screen isn't challenged… From what I see on the sides, the plastic is only ½ inch thick over the edges of the wood… Before I made my cut, I drilled 3 small holes in the bottom to see if it was a "honeycomb" as I was told, or hollow, or bonded to a wood frame… The drill went in ½" before hitting wood, so combining that with what is seen on the sides, I would say that if you need to trim more than ¼" from ANY side, then this is NOT the screen for you… The actual size of the screen is ¼ smaller than call-out, so a 36 x 80 is actually 35 ¾ x 79 ¾. That might help in that you can use this on a square opening that is only, 35 1/4 x 79 1/4 … I was going to use a hot knife, then a "multi-tool" (that oscillating blade thing that is so great for everything), but decided to go for the juice and used my WormDrive SkilSaw instead since that's the harshest way anyone would want to cut it, AND, it's the norm for cutting regular wood screens… I'm no photographer, but attached are pictures Hope this helps, it's been a month of concern for me…

How wide are pieces of wood (i.e. how much room is there to install door handle hardware?)

How wide are pieces of wood (i.e. how much room is there to install door handle hardware?)
Asked by: djg
The door is made from a tight closed cell foam plastic formed around a wood frame... The plastic is NOT bonded to the wood... There is 1/2 inch of this tight closed-cell foam plastic around the edges of the door... the wood frame is about 3 inches in width... So if you stay away from the first 3/4 of the edge you will hit good wood... You can see this if you look at the bottom edge of the door. If you need to trim the door, DO NOT trim more than 1/4 inch from any edge... leaving 1/4 inch of the plastic foam around the wood helps ensure water tightness, and since the plastic is not bonded to the wood, if you expose the wood, the plastic will most likely flop around in hot weather... The cut edge doesn't have the smooth finish like the uncut material, it has what you'd expect from cutting plastic foam, a rough foam finish...

It does come with a basic hardware package including spring hinges, manual latch and pulls. I actually installed mine with a closer and conventional hinges. Met all my expectations. Subjected to 50 mph winds shortly after installation - no issues.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great looking door and well made. Delivered on time and as advertised. Looks really good, was easy to trim to fit my door frame and looks and feels like it has been well made. It has been installed now for 4 weeks and I am very pleased with the door. I would have given it a 5 rating if it was not for the fact that the label on the side of the door took me over 30 min to remove. I had to resort to chemicals to eventually get it off which is not what I would have expected..

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Easy To Install There was one review where this product got a bad rating because the manufacture's product sticker was hard to get off. It took a wet towel compress and some Goo Gone to get it off but you shouldn't give the door a bad rating because of that. I bought this one online over the cheaper ones in the store because it was heavier and the cross bars were larger and sturdier looking then the ones in the store. The door had some scratches and small dents which is the reason I didn't give it higher ratings but the install was easy and I would recommend this.
