Answer:
Thank you for your question. Our Hercules King Canopies are one of the strongest temporary shelters on the market. As any canopy, they can definitely take flight through high winds if not properly anchored. If you are planning on using this unit for storage and would like to leave it up, adding a sidewall kit to fully enclose the unit helps cut out some of the wind that can tunnel under the cover.

Again to eliminate the canopy from "falling over" or taking flight proper anchoring is required. See the units instruction manually for recommended anchoring. Read Less

So I purchased some gray buckets and filled them with concrete and before it dried, I planted the "metal feet pads" in them. I also planted an eye hook in each bucket. The legs of the canopy are placed in each metal foot pad and tightened but I alsoI tied a rope over the frame's horizontal poles and into the eye hooks. So trust me, nothing is moving. On their website, King Canopy sells anchor kits or you can tie a bag filled with stones or sand to some of the pole legs if you need a temporary set up. I saw that on my Internet search for vendors who use canopies to display/sell their goods at art shows. Hope this helps. Will try to add pics for better understanding. Read Less

Answer:
Thank you for your inquiry about our product. We recommend that you anchor our canopies. If the canopies are not anchored it is possible that they will blow over in a strong wind.

Answer:
No. My city (Arlington TX) stated there is no need for a permit because it is not a permanent fixture as it can be taken down.

Customer Reviews

Rated 4.5 out of 5 by 2 reviewers.
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by READ THE REVIEWS ON THE OTHER SIZES OF THIS CANOPY Read the reviews of this canopy under other sizes if you are considering this canopy because you will really like what you read. I am 64 year old female and my husband and I put it up by ourselves. This canopy is very heavy, very good quality, very easy to install, and the shipping and purchase via Home Depot internet was very simple and fast. I purchased the 18x27, I added a picture of my canopy installed over my pool and I have answered many questions in case you need more details. July 15, 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Good value with one weird quirk and one slight issue. The unit was missing one of the elastic ball straps and another one was broken, so I ended up with only 48 of them. I contacted the Home Depot and they are sending me a replacement so that problem is fixed. The weird quirk is that the unit comes with 50 of the straps, but there are grommets on the tarp for 64. There are 54 grommets to attach the canopy to the frame and then 10 (one per leg) to attach it to the poles. There is no instructions in the manual to skip certain ones so I'm not sure why they don't send enough out. They sell a pack of 50 of them for $15 so I'd recommend just adding on a pack so you have enough. The slight issue is that one of the grommet holes on my tarp was not reinforced with an actual grommet. Just a hole cut in the fabric. Annoying, but certainly not enough to make me take it down and send back. So those issues are why I give it 4 instead of 5. Despite the warnings otherwise, I'm planning on this being a semi-permanent structure (I found reviews on other sites where people did this successfully). I've secured it down with ropes and hung sandbags off the corners for extra weight. We'll see how well it actually holds up to heavy rain and wind. November 2, 2014
