what does that mean; 'it has to be hard wired' can I plug it into an average orange extension cord or not?!!!
Asked by: Anonymous
No, it can not. It requires more than a 110volt outlet (standard outlet). I paid an electrician 100 bucks to run a line to the fuse panel.

When I initially ordered this heater on line it was listed as $170 and the description said it had a wall mount thermostat. Perfect because it was going to be mounted about 9 1/2 feet above the floor. When the heater showed up it did NOT have a wall thermostat and so went back to the website and the very same heater, with the same part number, was now $165 and the product description did not mention a wall thermostat. The process was a waste of my time.

Got up to 73 degrees in about 3hrs. The unit must be hard wired in. 110v outlet won't do. Overall I'm happy, just have to fire it up at least an hour or so before you plan on doing work. I turned it on about 6 times in a month to see how it'd affect the electric bill..it went up $35 bucks. I'd imagine it'd run $100+/mo to keep it running full time. Food for thought..

Wired it up, tested it for a few minutes and was working fine. Came back a couple weeks later to put it into actual use for the first time. Turned it on and it shut itself down after only a couple minutes and would not come back on. Checked connections, all wiring, everything ok. Product sucks, returning it asap. Zero stars.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from safety switch malfunctions worked fine for about a month, when temps got really cold the heaters safety switch would consistently shut down the heater till power was disconnected for 10 minutes to reset itself, then as time went on the safety shutoff would activate at a lower setting each time till the heater was useless and would not even keep my garage warm at all..also the heater is a little noisy but not too bad...returned for full refund...

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great shop heater, but... The heater works great but would have probably gone with a larger unit for my outbuilding/shop that is 24x20 now that I have it installed and running. For the shop size it may be just a tad too small to heat it efficiently. In hindsight I should have gone to the next size up but was relying on recommendations of other reviewers and their experience. I like that it has an adjustable thermostat to automatically turn on/off for the desired shop temp. I had a local electrician do the electrical installation for me and he described it as pretty simple. Had it not been that I needed to have additional breaker switches installed in my electrical panel for the heater, I could have probably done the heater hookup myself every...it was that easy. The heater was shipped promptly by Home Depot after I ordered it and it arrived about a week before the expected delivery date. I was pleased to know that the manufacturer was located here in the NW and not made on their other side of the globe.
