Why does this coffee maker leak water all over the cabinet after a few months of use? I have bought this maker twice and both did the same thing.
Asked by: LL
It is possible that the unit may need to be programmed to the clean mode and run through the clean cycle. Please contact KitchenAid at 1-800-541-6390 for further troubleshooting tips.

Customer Reviews

14-Cup Programmable Coffee Maker with Glass Carafe in Espresso is rated 4.1 out of 5 by 530.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from Heating Element Issues!!! We have had 2 of the KitchenAid KCM1402OB coffee makers now in the last 2 years. Both had the Err 2 message come up only after a few months of use! After the first time we called customer service, and Kitchen Aid was happy to send us another coffee maker. We had to return the old one in the box the new one came in. Now we are 6 months or so in with the new one and the same Err 2 has popped up again and it is taking forever for the coffee to brew and will not stay hot long! going back to Kitchen Aid yet again to see what they are willing to do now!!!

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Poor quality but great idea My husband and I went shopping for a coffee maker. We looked at several different models. We were sure this was the perfect coffee maker. At first it was. I loved that I could get the coffee ready at night and have it brew for me in the morning. I loved that it would stay warm for up to 4 hours. I also loved the amount of coffee it would brew. We didn't even have it a month and it started leaking water out the back. I took it back and exchanged it for the exact same coffee maker. I really did like the coffee maker. On the second coffee maker the light on the digital time was out on one side. I kept it anyway. Then a few weeks later, in the morning after it would brew, the coffee maker would shut off. For a few days i just turned it back on. I had enough of that and returned the coffee maker for a different brand. I really wish that the quality would have been a lot better on the KitchenAid product.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Quit working after 6 months We bought this coffee maker in red to match the decor in our kitchen and our other countertop appliances. After just 6 months the coffee maker stopped working all together. Kitchenaid honored the warranty and sent a replacement, but they did not have any in red unless we were willing to wait 5 weeks. So, we had to settle for a replacement in silver. I am giving 2 stars because of the easy set up and use of the coffee maker, and I do like the style and features, but really disappointed that my red one that I loved stopped working and we couldn't get a new red one. Rated 1 out of 5 by from Can't get a carafe replacement Bought this coffeemaker a year ago. Makes great coffee. Unfortunately the carafe broke - almost spontaneously - in Nov. Kitchenaid promised to replace it when the carafe was back in stock. Also promised not to charge for shipping due to inconvenience. Two months later, we are still waiting. Called Customer Service. No one has returned my call. This will be my last Kitchenaid product.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Removable Reservoir---We purchased this KitchenAid coffee maker because it had a removable water ... Removable Reservoir---We purchased this KitchenAid coffee maker because it had a removable water reservoir for easier filling. However, we discovered the opening at the top of the reservoir would not allow our faucet head to fit inside, so we have to do some extra maneuvering to fill it. Not a huge problem, but disappointing. We like the swing-out filter basket and decided not to use the gold filter included, preferring instead to keep using the paper filters. The unit brews the coffee quickly and it's very hot. There's a timer to let you know how long the coffee has been sitting on the hot plate. The carafe has an easy-pour spout that doesn't dribble or make you stand on your head to get the remainder of the coffee. We have never set the timer for brewing and don't plan to, so we can't comment on how well the automatic brewing cycle works. Home Depot had an excellent price for this coffee maker and we've enjoyed using it for two weeks.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Honest Review of 14 cup glass carafe coffee maker This coffee maker looks OK visually when you first see it. It also makes good coffee. Here are the downsides we encountered. 1. Gold foil basket had two cuts in the foil where it appears the plastic mold cut the foil. 2. The Water Filter floated out of position most times we filled it and I pressed it in there as hard as the stem would allow me to. 3. Water Reservoir is pretty narrow when filling and ungainly to get it to go back in if holding by integrated handle. 4. Coffee loading area opens by push button, but you have hold the back of the coffee maker (it will tip over if you don't) and push on the brushed stainless steel panel to close it. That leaves fingerprints every time. 5. It has a steam vent on the top which we feel will hammer our cabinets over time, since we have it sitting under our cabinets pushed back close to the backsplash. 6. Ours did not follow the logic in the manual for restarting the auto brew function. It had to be reprogrammed every time for coffee the next morning. Just not very well thought out, but it did make coffee as advertised. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]
