What is the differance between a built-in and a out door icemaker?

Asked by: Jared
Either indoor or outdoor ice maker operate best with the following temperature guidelines: Choose a well ventilated area with temperatures above 55°F (13°C) and below 110°F (43°C). Best results are obtained between 70°F and 90°F (21ºC and 32°C). The outdoor model has a weather-resistant design which includes welded stainless steel construction, which is one reason it's UL approved for outdoor use.

18 in. 50 lb. Freestanding or Built-In, Outdoor Icemaker in Stainless Steel is rated 2.3 out of 5 by 6.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from I hate this ice maker!! I replaced our old KitchenAid ice maker with this one. After 1 year the fan went out, it was under warranty, but the new fan did not have the noise reducer that the other fan came with. The noise is horrible. I wish I had bought a Scott's ice maker.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Absoute nightmare - DO NOT BUY DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT! MY unit broke while under warranty in May of this year. As of todays date (September 28) it is has still not been repaired. There was a two day window in July where one of the many repairs worked for 2 days and then quit again. Whirpool (who owns kitchenaid) simply refuse to deal with what is a very obvious design problem. The tech advised me that he had replaced all of the internal componets - still no ice. Do yourself a favour and DO NOT BUY THIS PIECE OF JUNK. Sub-zero makes a very good unit but will cost you extra $$ initially. If you but this ice maker you will have no ice but a very fashionable, $2000 anchor for your boat.

We removed a kitchen cabinet and installed this ice maker, love the design and the looks of it. I would NOT buy it until they change to a different filter, we have had 4 service calls on this machine because of defective ICE2 filters. They do not work from the start or fail after 1-7 months. at 45-70 dollars each, it is not cheap to operate this ice machine.
