The competition is fierce for this latest must-have class of product. Immersion blenders attempt to give you the best of two worlds in a handheld package, and KitchenAid - to be expected - delivers a thoughtful product at a fair price. Their offering gives the impression of solid construction, good weight (too heavy for some people but it gives you a confident feel), easy cleaning, good safety features, and good looks - even if it does live in a drawer much of the time. They essentially put a Blender's blade construction in a convenient stick form, but sharpened the blades (be careful!!) to mimic a food processor. It cannot match either appliance but does the job for small batches or difficult locations. Despite photos, the stove is not the place to use this - the electric cord can catch on pan handles or touch hot burner plates. A counter near the stove is ideal; keep a heat proof tile handy to place hot pans on. KitchenAid makes a heavier model also, but at that point you probably should be using a counter appliance. Usage hint: If the blade stick seems to wobble in use you do not have it "locked" on; twist harder when attaching. Storage hint: The pretty orange 2-inch cap from larger Tropicana jugs exactly fits the end of the blade holder, safely covering the sharp blades when in a drawer.

Picked it up the other day as an alternative to my blender for quick smoothies on-the-go. Easy to use, faster to clean and perfect for my lifestyle. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

A basic hand-held blender that does what it needs to. I was hoping it would work a little better with frozen fruit, but I know that's a high bar. The "on" button was a little hard to press, as well. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

When I wanted to buy a new stick blender, there were so many options. I chose Kitchenaid because Kitchenaid is made to last a long time. Two speed, 200 watt and it purrs like a Ferrari. Finish is better than Cuisinart and on low speed it is not noisy like cheap $20.00 specials. Always start off on low speed(dial on top) and switch to high speed after the hard work is done. +This will puree smoother than Cuisinart or other brands and the knife blade is VERY sharp. + One year hassle-free warranty. +Taller than Cuisinart, for tall or big jobs. I puree on a daily basis and the smoothness is wonderful and the time to finish is much lees than other brands I've owned. Word of advice: when using on hard counters(marble, quartz, etc. put a cork round on the counter). Owning multiple Kitchenaid products has been a great investment and time saver. I have used commercial appliances years ago and Kitchenaid is the closest to them and I also own 2 hand mixers and a 12 cup food processor. Unlike other brands, never needed to send them away for service. Also parts are available through my parts wholesaler(just tell them to order through Whirlpool!). Other brands don't have the parts availability of Whirlpool. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

I got this as a gift from my husband. At first I wasn't sure if I would use it or not, but it's fantastic for quickly blending soups in the pot, sauces and pureeing jellies and jams. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Bought it in May and in July the blade broke in half when making a banana-milk shake. No hard stuff. No ice in it. Only banana and milk.
