CUSTOMER REVIEWS

Rated 4.4 out of 5 by 110 reviewers.
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Good looking but weak where it counts. Started looking for a grill to replace an older, rusted out grill that was purchased 5-6 years ago for $99. Decided to spend a little more money to get something a little bigger, more versatile and longer lasting. Was really excited to find this grill on sale as it looks well constructed, with thicker steel components and a 10 year warranty. The online reviews that I read were also very encouraging. Purchased and assembled the grill without an issue. The first cook was pretty disappointing. Despite appearing built to last, the burners are underpowered for the size of the grill. I was expecting to be able to put some nice thick grill marks on my steaks, but they ended up more slow roasted than seared. Will try again this weekend. Maybe there's something that I can do to increase the output and improve the grilling experience. Otherwise, I'll probably return. If you're willing to drop $500-600 on a grill, you'd be smart to consider other options. September 11, 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Good Quality Grill for the Price I was in the market for a new gas grill and decided on the Kitchenaid 3-Burner Grill with Side Burner. The grill arrived via freight delivery and was packed very well. Installation instructions are very thorough and it took about 2 hour to complete. I just used the grill for cooking some salmon and fillet mignon steaks, and it turned out perfect. Some of the grills features and construction are discussed below: The Good: The best features of this grill are the welded stainless steel hood and industrial quality 304 stainless steel main burners, which are rated at 12,000 btu/hr and provide even heat distribution. It also has a quick-start electronic ignition system, stainless steel grids and porcelain coated warmer and fire box. The side burner is also a nice feature and rated at 12,000 btu/hr. The burners can be converted to natural gas using an optional kit and the grill includes the natural gas orifice for the side burner. The grill also comes with a nice custom-fitted grill cover. The Bad: A considerable amount of this grill is painted-steel construction. The horizontal side panels are especially vulnerable to rusting if left exposed to the elements. It does not have an inferred burner, but a rotisserie kit is an option. The locking caster is also somewhat difficult to access and operate. Overall the Kitchenaid 3-Burner Grill with Side Burner is a good quality grill for the price. There are certainly better quality grills with higher stainless steel content and more features, but they are also considerably more expensive. With the high content of painted steel construction, long-term durability of this grill is questionable. Best to always use the grill cover when not in use. December 26, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Good Grill for the Price Good grill for the price, (currently on sale). I have researched various grills and weighed the pros and cons. In the price range I was willing to spend, it came down to Weber Gen. 3 burner, Aussie and KitchenAid. Changes I made to mine was a personal pref., and will follow up at the end of this summary. something to think about. The 2 fore mentioned are of higher quality, with just a few better pros, but at a price difference of $275 -$325, this was my choice. This is my 1st Kitchen-Aid grill and so far I am pleased with the craftmanship. Plenty of cooking space, easy to assemble, looks good, worked the 1st time. 1st fire up of the grill left on high and with in 5 min. hit 550 degree F.. Turned burners down a little to a temp of 475 F., and found that it did hold termp well, left on for approx. 15 min with out a temp. change. Lowered the temp to 325 F., and had the same results. This will do great for slow cooking. Just remember, with proper care and maint., there is no reason that this or any other product, from our 15 yr. old vehicle with 286,000 miles and still looking good and running strong, to your kitchen appliances, computers, TV's etc., will give you plenty years of use. We use our grills 2 - 3 times a week and down to 1 - 2 times during winter, depending on weather. Last grill was an old cast iron Sunbeam. close to 14 yrs. of hard use. Things I changed. 5 " locking Swivel casters with hard rubber wheels (just happen to have a few sitting around) with lock washers, not included, we tend to move our grill a lot. Also would use lock washers with existing casters. Also added a very small amount of white grease to all external srews, (not in the fire box). As far as the ad mention of 20 min. assembly, ha ha ha. Working alone on the project, it took me almost 20 min to open, unpack, check inventory, and look at instructions. Great packageing. For all that will assemble this item, I left the screws on the bottom, L & R side and rear panel loose to all were inplace, then tightened while lining up base and sides. Remove only the screws instructions states and loosen the ones instructed. aline and tighten as you go. Making sure all is in line and squared will make setting the door that much easier and all edges clean. After all said (1st time putting a grill like this together), it took me approx. 1 1/2 hres to assemble. The 2nd one ( a friend had seen mine after completed and bought the same one ), It took 2 of us, unpacking, laying out and putting together, 45 min.. Should there be a 3rd? Might get close to 30 -35 min., maybe. I will repost after much use . Hope this helps. Russ June 22, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by This KitchenAid Grill is the BEST I've ever had! This review is for the new KitchenAid 3-Burner Gas Grill with Side-Burner and Cover! I have had some other grills in the past, ones that I bought assembled and ones that I had to build, and this one is far superior to those others. I have included photographs to show what I mean. I received my grill via Freight truck delivery and instantly commended KitchenAid for taking such care to ship it on a shrink-wrapped pallet. I want to commend the engineers and packaging designers for perfectly packaging the grill. All the items were included, no parts missing. They used the actual grill, the inside of it, to hold some parts. Each item was securely boxed and wrapped to protect them from being scratched or bent. A+ packaging! Next, I took all the parts out of the box and lined them up to make sure they were all there. Once I checked the manual against all the parts, I started building it. The manual says the install will take 20 minutes. It actually took around 120 minutes! Perhaps that was a typo?! I must point out that this is a TEAM build. If you choose to assemble it by yourself, you’ll be quite frustrated. I consider myself to be a skilled instructions reader and I still had a hard time. The extra set of hands comes in “handy” when building the basedeck walls, lifting the grill onto the basedeck, and when mounting the side burner and cutting surface. Though the manual doesn’t mention it, get someone to help you! The great thing about assembling this grill was that I only needed a screwdriver and an adjustable wrench! The good majority of all the screws were pre-tapped and screwed into their holes. All I had to do was back them out slightly to assemble the parts together. Quickly, the pieces all came together and before I knew it I had a grill! The design is great! The drip tray slides into the back and pulls out for easy clean up. No need to hang a tin can on a hook! The panels are coated with a durable paint to provide years of protection. It looks enameled or powder coated. I wish the entire grill was stainless, not only for the look but for the durability and easy clean up. There was only one issue I had with the installation. The only thing that was incorrect was the side-burner mounting bracket for the knob. This must have been a manufacturing mistake. The sheet metal punched for the mounting screws to hold the internal knob valve to the grill was punched improperly. It forced me to only be able to screw in the right side mounting screw, vs being able to mount it with both. We were able to work around this, however, the knob mount is only being held on with 1 screw. (please see the picture) This was the only downside to the grill assembly. Once assembled, I went out and bought a new propane tank. When I got home, I unlatched the tank tray, slid it out, put the tank in, secured it with the tank holder wing-nut, and connected the gas line. I turned the gas on and lit the burners. (WOOMPH!) The burners all came to life with the electric igniter. I let the grill reach 600 degrees to break in the grill and to bake off the shipping dust, grease, and that “new grill smell” before using. Once done, I threw on some thick ribeye steaks and had some friends over for a good time! I give another bonus point to KitchenAid for including the cover! This is usually something that is overlooked by the average consumer. I am that guy! Usually the cover is around $100 at the store. It’s not a cost that you usually plan for and for the sake of the grill, It’s totally necessary. The fact that it is included is a wonderful surprise! I can already tell my spring and summer will be a righteous one! Let this KitchenAid 3-Burner grill be the reason your 2014 is a memorable one! Happy Grilling! January 21, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Best grill ive used! This is a great grill for any homeowner, new or experienced. I was a little weary upon receiving the box, and all the pieces that I would have to assemble. If you lay out the pieces and follow the instructions, it all comes together nicely. I really appreciated the fact they placed the screws and bolts in the locations needed, ready to be fastened. After the grill was assembled, I loaded up the propane take on the slide out tray and connected the propane line. Turned on the propane and fired it up. Heats up quickly and evenly. The stainless grill grates come in three separate pieces for easy removal for cleaning. There is also a grease trap in the bottom that can be cleaned out by removing in the back. The grill is easy to move around, complete with wheels and wheel brake. The included cover is an added bonus and is form fitting. This grill will look good anywhere you put it. The grill is great, no issues except the stainless exterior, its a little hard to keep clean. The interior cooking surfaces on the other hand are as easy as washing in the sink. December 31, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by High Quality Great Cooking Grill This Kitchenaid grill is a really well built high quality grill that you will enjoy for years to come. Let’s start with the pros: - The fire box and burners are a nice heavy gage stainless steel that won’t rust. - The thermometer is large making it easy to read. - The warming rack lifts out easily making access to the back of the grill grates easy to get to when grilling. - The cooking area is large with grill grates that are heavy stainless and there are three of them instead of one large grate. They will fit in my dishwasher for cleaning, Big plus. - There is a side burner for cooking things in a pot or pan while grilling. We use this for the messy jobs to keep the stove clean and to keep odors or smoke out of the house. - The firebox gets good and hot when you crank up the three knobs and does a great job at searing. - Most importantly the heat is distributed evenly over the surface making it easy to get all of your burgers or steaks cooked the same and the three burners have good flame adjustment for temperature control. Please see the video of the flame kist burgers being made. They turned out great. - The propane tank sits on a slide-out tray for easy removal and installation. - The grill also comes with a nice cover to protect it from the weather. - Kitchenaid has also included hangers on the ends of the grill for your utensils and there are work surfaces on each side of the grill for plates, trays, etc. And the cons: - It took me a couple of hours to assemble and parts could be labeled with peel off labels to help with assembly. - There were a couple of parts missing. When I called the customer service number they promptly shipped them to me so no big deal there. If you want a quality grill that is made well and cooks great then look no further. December 30, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Attractive well built grill with side burner. Cooks great! The grill came via freight well packed on a pallet. Clear assembly instructions, although they said 20 minutes to assembly - it took about two hours and I’m far from a novice. Tools needed are a screw driver and adjustable wrench. Parts aligned easily and assembly was not difficult – but labeling some parts would have helped identity them easier. Most front and top surfaces are stainless steel and look great. The burners are heavy grade stainless. Three burners aligned vertically divide the cooking area into left, front, center, with stainless heat diffusers that worked well. Other parts are painted black including the top of each side shelf - which I would have preferred to be stainless also. Left shelf has built in hooks for tools. Right shelf has side burner, but when not in use fold down cover make a second shelf (nice feature!) Assembly tip – assemble the side shelves first before attaching to the grill, easier to access the screws that way). Unit comes with nice full size cover. Gas tank is mounted on a rollout frame and accessible from the front, a nice feature. No gauge. I had an issue with the connection to the tank - it leaked some by the regulator - asking for a new part. It has three stainless heavy duty cooking grids and a black warming rack along with a side burner. Electronic ignition engaged at each burner and side burner by turning knob and pushing. Burners are all 12000 BTUs. Grill cooks very nicely – warms fast - even heat throughout the grilling area, not bad on flair ups even cooking sausage. Good temperature range on the burners, and hot enough to sear steaks easily. In the center of the lid is a large easy to read thermometer. Side burner is powerful and convenient. Moving grill isn’t too bad, but only two of the casters swivel. Locking them also a bit hard as they are recessed under the deck some. Very attractive and well built grill. It looks great on my deck- see photos. Photos are a bit blurry because of the winter storm - but even in the nasty cold - it cooks up tasty burgers January 6, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great Replacement for Older BBQ Nice BBQ grill. Nice features. A tad expensive compared to others but better than the cheaper models. Made by Nexgrill under the KitchenAid name. A bit more heavier than Nexgrills which are half the cost. Maybe $100 over-priced. Manual says 20 minutes to assemble. I've done these before and am very mechanical and it took me two hours. But it was done right. My wife loves it. I'll have to see how durable it is since my last BBQ grill lasted 30 years.
