30 in. 5.8 cu. ft. Slide-In Gas Range with Self-Cleaning Convection Oven in Stainless Steel is rated 4.4 out of 5 by 330.

The control panel refuses to work properly. The "5" key becomes inoperable at random times. Hey no problem 349 degrees will work, right? Wrong. The "start" key also decides it isn't going to work. Kitchenaid has attempted to fix it on multiple occasions by replacing the keypad and a cooling fan located in the back. Problem still exists and range is now out of warranty.

After owning this range now for several months I'd like to share my experiences and the pros and the cons. Let's start with the nice things. It looks really good, like a million dollars! I enjoy the large cooking surface and the 5 burners. The large burners provide enough heat for a good sear and the smaller ones are nice for simmering and smaller pots. The convection oven is nice to keep an even heat around the cooking goods and while baking. I love the proofing option which comes in handy when I'm baking bread. For bread making the steam bake option is also very nice. All in all this oven has some nice features. Now to the not so nice things. Let's start with the large burners. They are powerful but due to the large circumference they create a "ring of fire" while leaving the center of the pot or skillet colder. Now this is an expensive appliance. I don't expect the same performance as I would from a professional range or the likes but why can't they put center fire on the large burners? Is that too much to ask for. It's just a few additional holes! The other annoying thing about the burners is how the knobs adjust the flow of gas. I don't know who designed these valves but when you start turning them down from high to medium at first almost nothing happens, then it turns down very quick and the end of the adjustment range is basically worthless. Without looking under the pot you basically have no idea where you at with the heat. Next the temperature of the oven. I've done several tests with several different thermometers and the oven temperature is always lower than indicated on the control panel. At 500 deg Fahrenheit and after heating up for 30 mins the thermometer still shows only 450 F [see picture]. I used to have a cheap range that was more accurate and in addition it went up to 550 F. Since I like to make pizza on a pizza stone the high temp is needed but I can't get there. It's quite dissatisfying. Next the close to worthless steam self cleaning option where one has to pour water on the bottom for cleaning. I did that and the result was that I had to grab a scrubber and some foam cleaning spray to get the job done. Again, the cheap range had pyro cleaning which was simple and worked like a charm. The storage drawer at the bottom is probably the flimsiest thing I've ever seen. I wobbles and jiggles when you pull it out. Sometimes it's hard to push it back in because it jams. Not up to par with its price tag. Lastly a serious concern about the outside temperature of the oven. When I bake a pizza at 500 F the outside gets so hot that I can't touch it anymore. I measured, using a digital infrared thermometer, temps up to 165 F at the oven door and the control panel. I don't know who designed this range but this is a severe design flaw. During pyro cleaning at 650 F my old range stayed cooler on the outside. This is a serious safety concern because my 6 year old granddaughter is not used to oven doors that she can't touch. Hope she never gets hurt ...

For the money (which comparatively speaking, this is a good deal), this range looks very professional, works well, and seems to be well built. The only negative so far, which I've seen others comment on here, is the bottom storage tray. It is so cheap and flimsy it makes you ask "really??".

I am very happy with the burners and the oven. the only negative item which I wrote to KitchenAid (to No avail) about was the knobs. The knobs have red lines on them that line up at the top when the burners are turned off. My knobs don't line up at the top they are off by just a little bit, I know this may seem petty but we are talking gas here so I have had an occasion where the gas was on and coming out and the igniter was not engages since the knob was not turned just far enough to start the igniter. I smelled the gas and shut it off so for this kind of money I feel the knobs should be more reliable and precise.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Defective materials ruined cooktop & warranty doesn't cover I purchased all Kitchenaid products for my kitchen remodel, due to beautiful design, warranty, and quality brand. However, my beautiful new cooktop bubbled around the burners in multiple places after only 1-2 months of light use. I was very disappointed that the one year warranty does not cover DEFECTIVE MATERIALS unless they are reported within 30 days of purchase. So, I have a beautiful new oven with a peeling cooktop that will most likely need to be replaced within a year. I will NEVER purchase a Kitchenaid product again--there are many other brand options that still use quality materials that will last much longer.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Looks great but problems We bought a model home and moved in 4/25/17. The stove had not been turned on until settlement which was 12/2/16. The range looks like a gourmet model and having 5 burners is good. I haven't had gas in over 20 years, so I am still getting used to cooking with it. However, the knobs can easily be turned on by leaning into them. Also the burners put out SO much heat that the automatic fan on the microwave turns on! (Thank goodness.) The oven was not calibrated properly, so we read the instruction manual and attempted to do it ourselves. The temperature had improved but it is still not correct. We have to adjust our baking times which is a pain since my last oven was perfect!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Trim scratches easily/Burners can't be lit when power is out My reasons for purchased a dual fuel include having gas burners so I can use them when the power goes out. We asked before we purchased the oven and were told that yes, the burners could be manually lit when the power goes out. Even the instructions for operating the oven say that the burners can be manually lit. However this is a complete and total lie. There is some sort of a lock that prevents the gas from flowing to the burners when there is no power. Another complaint is that the top of the unit is easily scratched by the grates. Plus the "painted on which burner is which" information on the same panel that is easily scratched have disappeared after 2 years. I am disappointed in this unit.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Terrible Quality Control Fist, it is NOT a slide-In range... it's a freestanding range with front controls. cooktop on a slide in sits on top of the countertop. Also, the big handle on the drawer is stupid... it's just an ankle catcher. BUT, those are aesthetic issues and I should have noticed them, so they're my bad. However, I'm on my second range and it's broken out of the box. (The first was dented and not from shipping/installation... the box was perfect). I plugged in the replacement and couldn't set the time, because the number 6 on the touchpad does not respond. Seriously, do they have any quality checks? (I also had a dented range hood (again the box was perfect) and a refrigerator that's out of square). I'm less than pleased with KitchenAid
