The first range hood we got was damaged (dents in the chimney and one of the fan speeds didn't work). But KitchenAid replaced it with a new one, and it looks and works great! We've had it for about a month and I love it. It is a great addition to our remodeled kitchen. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

We have had our hood for a year now. We still love it. It looks great. It draws the cooking fumes out fast. Stainless Steel does need more attention to keep the finger smudges off. But, we love it anyway.

I'll start by saying that once installed this is an attractive hood that is effective.
However, there were so many issues installing this hood that it can't be recommended.
1st - the primary electrical connection in the unit had excess rubber around the male end of the plug and thus it wouldn't plug in fully. We eventually trimmed back so of the rubber and made it work.
2nd - the device is all assembled with ridiculous star drive screws that are 3-6 mm long. I had to make a special trip back to the hardware store for that drive (the included adapter was worthless).
3rd - Another company favors saving on shipping versus installation ease. The first 5 or 6 steps of the assembly we basically building the unit back to the state in which it should have been shipped but because that would have added 2" square inches to the package you get to assemble it yourself. Good luck with that.
4th - It may have said it on the home depot website but I missed it - this needs a 6in vent. So I ended up removing my existing 4" vent, buying more pipe and installing a 6in roof vent cap. Most contractors won't bother and will either vent into your crawlspace or your kitchen but since I was doing this myself on my home I wanted it to be done right.
When you spend 3 times the cost of a basic hood you expect to get a superior product. This product is not meaningfully different from $300 models.

Great LED lighting that really helps you see your cooking area. Low speed is super quiet, high speed has a lot of draw.

I purchased this hood along with an entire KitchenAid kitchen. The hood looks great mounted with its clean lines. My problem with the hood, when it was installed by the contractor, one of the LED lights did not work. The contractor determined that it was not an LED bulb. I called KitchenAid and setup a repair call. The company they had scheduled to do the repair work showed up but had no knowledge of how to repair the unit. The young repair man wanted to take the hood down from the wall but of course had never installed one of these units and had no idea what he was doing. I was unwilling to let someone take the hood down from the wall mount of a new kitchen with no experience. The unit requires at least two people to install and remove it as well. The repairman said that was not their problem and KitchenAid would not cover the charges to have additional people onsite to help with any removal or reinstall and I would have to bear the coast of having my contractor back to uninstall the hood. I have made several calls to KitchenAid but still have no LED light fixed after several months. I have been fortunate that my local dealer has stepped in to try and help with the problem. Poor service from KichenAid on a new appliance.
