If we use Trex to frame the base do we need a heat shield for the bottom of the grill, or is that built in to the unit as is?
Asked by: Tom
Eric thank you. Did some research and using trex or wood definitely not the way to go. Decided to use 25gauge steel framing home Depot carries and cut it to length. Cinder blocks would work too I think but this seems easier for me.

Is the searing burner at the bottom right side removable and becomes a regular burner as the other 4 burner on the left side? Will this searing burner get damaged or clogged if you cook bbq directly above it that produces a lot of drippings? Or may be, you are not even supposed to cook anything on top of it if a lot of dripping is expected? I just want to know what to expect from this product before actually buying it. Thank you
Asked by: LoMayok
Hello Lomayok, Robert from Nexgrill here. Good answer community. The sear burner is removable but you cannot replace it with another type of burner. The reason it is removable is in case it stops working and you need to replace it. You can cook directly above it, but it gives out extreme heat and is only meant to sear meat for 1-2 minutes on each side, then you finish cooking your meat above the regulator burners. Most of the drippings will burn off with the extreme heat but we also recommend to occasionally use compressed air to shoot out anything that may be stuck. Happy Grilling!!!-Nexgrill

What grade stainless steel is this grill made of?

Asked by: ChrisM123
Low! It rusts! Read the details of the warranty online. Rust is not covered by the warranty.

It has not aged well. The burners, heat plates, and warming rack are made low-grade, cheap stainless. They have all rusted even though the unit has been covered 100% of the time when not in use. The cooking grates appear to be made of high quality stainless when new, but if you read closely the product description indicates the grates are made of "304-grade stainless steel WRAPPED cooking grids". The stainless WRAP has begun to peel off over the high-heat sear station section. The bigger challenge is finding replacement pairs for this grill. The model # 740-0781 is not in replacement part data bases. Kitchen-Aid grills are not made by Kitchen-Aid, they are made by Nexgrill Industries. Home Depot does not sell replacement parts for this unit. The unit worked well when it was brand new, but the construction and low-quality, cheap components cause it not to age well. I would not purchase this unit again.

Replacing an identical unit which was about 6 years old. The original unit weathered badly, parts of the "stainless" handle peeled off from exposure to the sun. Insulation on igniter wires powdered and fell off and the bars/rods in the cooking grid spit open. The only reason I ordered the unit again is that it sits in a stone outside kitchen pedestal and it was the only one to fit the hole. The new unit is also flimsy. Several of the rods/bars on the cooking grid came off in transit because of inadequate tack weld. Called manufacturer for replacement. They were nice on the phone, but after 2 months and numerous emails - they claim it is still on back order. Not sure who designs these but not someone with experience or common sense. Ordered the cover separate - but it just blows off as nothing to hold it in place. It is like they never thought this thing would ever be outside in the weather.

I had a deposit on a BBQ in Lowes. This was $200 cheaper and had a gauge on front with a good brand. I was looking at other place where they start at $2k and up
