Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Wonderful Bowl But With a Fatal Flaw I have had my glass bowl for a couple years and I love it. It's great for all kind of mixing tasks but especially for cakes and breads. Because it's clear it is easy to see to make sure that everything is mixed in; no flour or liquid lying unmixed in the bottom. It is also great for measuring bread rise because you can clearly see when the dough has doubled, with or without the measurement marks on the side. BUT it is so easy to break the bowl just securing it into the mixer stand base. The optimism way to secure it brings the spout in such close contact with the back of the stand that the slightest touch can chip or crack the spout. (See pix) I'm so sorry that mine has chipped and cracked just from regular use. I wish this had a better design. August 3, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Love it I love my glass bowl. I have seen the reviews about the chipping problems but, I have not had any chipping problems. The only problem I have is difficulty in snapping it into place. It takes a bit of maneuvering unlike the stainless steel bowl which snaps right in, otherwise I love the size and find no problems with it. August 8, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Glad to learn it was not just mine I upgraded from the 4.5 quart to this mixer and the glass bowl broke the first month. I thought it was just me! The bowl has functional problems. First - it does not attach to the mixer very well. It takes multiple tries and does not feel sturdy in the base. And as a result of juggling to get in the pour spout hit the machine and it cracked the bowl. I now use my 4.5 quart metal bowl - although the whole reason I purchased was for the larger capacity since I use very often. I did call Customer Service and they are shipping a new one - I just wish I could have replaced with Metal bowl. I am very nervous about using the glass bowl again but really do need the larger size. I am disappointed I will have to ultimately purchase the metal bowl and spend more money - but do appreciate Kitchen aid replacing the broken bowl. I would recommend the mixer but not the glass bowl. Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by So sad- broken glass bowl after 4 uses I am so upset-- the bowl cracked after a couple uses. I carefully hand wash it every time. I put it in the standing mixer. Then a few minutes later we heard a popping/cracking sound and looked over to see a crack in the glass. Something about the pressure of locking it in place stressed the glass. I would not recommend this glass bowl. April 17, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Bowl Shattered I've had my Kitchenaid mixer with this glass bowl for about 5 months now. While using the mixer the silver cover from the top attachment spot fell down into the bowl while the mixer was on. My bowl immediately Shattered everywhere and the mixer jammed up and stopped turning. I called Kitchenaid customer service and they are sending my a new one since mine was still under warranty. Good job to customer service but this bowl needs to be more sturdy. I am looking into getting the stainless steel bowl now. April 12, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Chipped I have had this glass bowl for about a year now. I had just made some cookies and hand washed the bowl and set it down to dry on a t-towel on my counter. I then put another bowl down next to it and it must have hit the glass bowl just right because it made a sound and I noticed a huge chip on the rim. :( I love my KitchenAid Mixer and use it almost every weekend for baking but I was disappointed that such a minor tap from another bowl [from one of my vintage - 50 year old FireKing jadite bowls] could do the type of damage it did. Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Chipped after few uses I received this as gift from my grandmother for my wedding. It was the kitchenaid mixer, with a glass bowl. The glass bowl broke after about 4 uses :( simply was pouring a glass measuring cup with milk into the glass bowl and it chipped right at the spout. So upset this happened :( not sure what to do about it now. Kitchenaid is great, but can be expensive! With the name and price attached to it, I expected this bowl to last. March 20, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by So bummed that it's broken. I'm so sad and bummed about my kitchenaid glass mixing bowl. It's what makes my mixer look so great on the counter, and I loved it. Today, I made some cake batter and washed the bowl. I set it down on the counter and then heard it crack. What a mess - glass everywhere. I always hand washed it and was so careful. For the price, I sure wish it was tougher. March 19, 2016
