Customer Reviews

Architect Series II 1.6 cu. ft. Countertop Microwave in Stainless Steel Built-In Capable with Sensor Cooking is rated 3.5 out of 5 by 309.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from Second Microwave - Same Issues We upgraded to this model when we built our house in 2013. About a year later, the microwave began to shut off by itself during operation. In addition, it would not begin cooking at times, unless we slammed the door closed, or banged on the door. KitchenAid replaced the Microwave and all was good until about a year later when the same set of issues arose. We are in the process of replacing the microwave now. We were very disappointed, especially since the same issues arose with two different ovens. Our assumption is it is a flaw in the design of the door resulting in the oven not realizing that the door is closed, or worse, the door isn't securely closed.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Good when it's working We got the microwave from the builder as an appliances upgrade package (dishwasher, range, refrigerator) when we bought our house 1 year and two months ago. It has been since used occasionally mainly for heating food. Unfortunately, a week ago just after it has passed the warranty period, it broke down. The microwave, even in full power mode did not generate any heat at all and we could smell something that's normally would not be there. We scheduled a service for the microwave but got a call from the service man that they don't have the parts and since it's out of warranty we should be better off replacing it. It's very disappointing since we expect much better for a microwave at this price point. We have a very big concern now whether the other Kitchen Aid appliances will fail anytime soon.

Repairman showed me it was a manufacturing error, another part was installed incorrectly and contacted the fan causing it to fail. I called customer service and explained the situation. No help at all, they just kept repeating that the 1 year warranty had expired. That repair cost $300. Now after 5 years there is an awful noise when it's running and an electrical smell. Have to replace it. Extremely poor quality product.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Bought this microwave for a new house. In about 2 years this MW has started running with no timer display. Timer stops but MW keeps running. I think this thing is dangerous. Thought I did well with getting all Kitchenaid products in new home. In two years I will have had to have every one of them worked on. (dish washer, microwave, cook top, refrigerator) Stay away from these products.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Sturdy I just replaced my 15 year old Kitchen Aid microwave with another Kitchen Aid microwave because they are build sturdy for the long haul. This new microwave however does not message me to " Enjoy your meal" and I miss that cause it would make me smile. (I live alone.) [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Stopped Heating in 2 Years!!!!!!!! This microwave was put in by the builder and we moved in February 2015. The unit stopped heating food March 2017. I was told by repair man that this was "disposable" unit and the only parts available was the glass turntable and the plastic roller under it. Not happy!!!!!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Door Release Only Negative Microwave is quiet and performs well. Only negative is "stiff" door release which makes door somewhat difficult to open. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]
