Customer Reviews

Architect Series II 2.0 cu. ft. Over the Range Convection Microwave in Stainless Steel with Sensor Cooking is rated 2.9 out of 5 by 49.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great product We have had this convection/microwave unit for 5 years now. It has served as a primary oven several times and cooks, browns, grills, convection cooks, and serves as microwave all very well. The keypad at times does get sensitive to steam causing the keys not to be responsive. On occasion we have had to unplug the unit to get the keypad to start working again. Rated 5 out of 5 by from Unique design, easy to use My husband and I selected this microwave to complement other Kitchen Aid appliances that we were ordering at the same time. This microwave fit perfectly and functions as described. The touch screen is easy to use and offers suggested times for fresh produce as well as frozen and canned foods. Defrosting and melting options are also suggested. The microwave comes with a convection plate for browning and a metal rack for multi-level cooking. I did have difficulty with my first microwave that was ordered. Shortly after receiving my new oven I began having the oven cut off during cooking. After several service calls and several occurrences Kitchen Aid stood behind their warranty and replaced my microwave and had a new one delivered and installed by company trained repairmen. I have had no issues with my microwave and have been using it with ease for over 2 years now.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Never Again I wish I could give you a review on this supposedly 2nd generation, but I wouldn't dare take a chance on a third one. First one died after two years and of course warranty had ran out. I thought with the cost of nearly twice the price of most all other competitors and the Kitchen Aid brand who needs an extended warranty, right. Boy was I wrong. But I liked the look, features, and it matched our Whirlpool Gold Frig and like a dummy, yes you guest it. I PURCHASED A 2ND ONE. This time I did buy an extended warranty. Everything is now right in the world. WRONG WARRANTY RAN OUT AND THEN IT DIED. All I can say is if you are considering this goodddddddd luck, you'll need it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Great features...serious touchpad flaw that will cost you $$ Love the appliance, but the touchpad is defective. I replaced the original at approx 24 months and now need to replace it again at 38 months. The part costs $150-200, but factor on $300+ in total if you need to pay someone to do it. Check via Google and you will see this is a common and known issue.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Quality Issues Had to replace the left side cover because the plastic mounts that hold the 3-button assembly broke. Also had to replace the buttons themselves because they broke when the mounts broke. There are far to many flimsy plastic parts and mounts. Had to replace the entire touch keypad because I got a code. The plastic on the bottom of the door is cracked and I just repaired it with epoxy. All told - $300 - and I did it myself. My folks have a Tappan microwave that has lasted more than 30 yrs. with no issues. This one didn't last 5 yrs.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from 2 years I purchased this microwave along with an entire kitchen full appliances. After 2 years the 1200$ microwave quit heating items. I did a little research and found that it is a typical failure for the kitchen aid microwave oven to quit after 2 years. I wish I had done more research prior to making the decision to do my entire home with kitchen aid products. The repair is about 300$, if I have to do this every 2 years I'd just assume by from another manufacturer.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Piece of JUNK! I bought this microwave in March of '13 and it is a real piece of JUNK. It stopped working within the first six months and now 18 months later all of the plastic on it is cracked, cracking or falling off. The vent support fell off last night when I opened the door. I'm shocked that a $1300.00 microwave is made of such cheap materials and is disintegrating so quickly before my eyes. At this rate we will have to replace it within a year, what a waste of money. My 20+ year old GE counter top microwave is still working fine and none of the pieces are cracking off. If you?re looking for an attractive appliance this is for you but if you are planning on using it, stay away from this $1300.00 piece of cheap plastic.
