Removal of handles to reduce overall depth dimension is easier than cutting a hole in the house. Also less costly to restore to original condition.

Answer:
A hex key and/or a Philip's screwdriver is all that is needed for removing the handles.

Customer Reviews

Architect Series II 26.8 cu. ft. French Door Refrigerator in Stainless Steel is rated 3.9 out of 5 by 313.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from Buyer Beware I bought this two months ago and it completely stopped working. I had to wait over a week before warranty service could come. Meanwhile I lost over $500 in food plus had no refrigerator over thanksgiving which ruined the holiday for my family. Repairman finally came and new parts have to be ordered...so now another week... he did charge it as a temporary measure and was nice and polite but I found out that this unit was worked on before my purchase for the same problem. I'm angry. I did purchase it on clearance but it was no value since I've lost $500 in food and weeks of having no refrigeration. Buyer beware. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Very Poor Quality Bought this refrigerator eights months ago, look very nice in the store, but very far from that. First the touch pad is very poor in design, have to press hard to enter function and if feels as if it will break. Second the freezer is freezing up that the slide draws cannot slide at all. Third the refrigerator section is not cooling at all. And the service department (Parts World Limited Trinidad) is the worse I have ever seen, they operate as if it is my fault the unit is giving problems. Although you report the issue they will come when they have time, The last time they showed up the next day is when I told them I will return the unit at their expense and return my money.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Nothing but trouble. Constant problems, repair after repair. Still leaks water from ice maker. While under Warrenty Kitchenaid sends out repairman time and time again! Replaces part after part and still doesn't fix the problem. Awful awful awful. Pretty refrigerator don't be fooled. Buy something anything else.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Great things about this fridge: beautiful to look at, insil I am redoing my kitchen so I bought this to go with my kitchen. It is absolutely perfect! My builders built a box/shelves on it and it looks like one of those really high dollar refrigerators!! Can't beat it!! [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 3 out of 5 by from TOO NOISY Honestly I read every review of every refridg. online, I was set to buy a fridgedaire and we were upsold to this. I like everything about this fridg. except the noise is unbearable. From high pitched whines, to grinding sounding when fans and compressors come on. Repair man very honest very good, said this IS the noise level and these are NOT well insulated. I would pay more for electricity than have the supposed cost savings kill my quiet house ("high efficiency are louder:) for 3 grand the thing should be dead silent. I have NEVER in anyones house EVER heard their referidgerator, and ours is embarrassing. also along the upper wall the icemaker creates condensation and some ice

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Nice refrigerator but limited freezer space This is a very nice looking refrigerator and I'm very happy with the refrigerator part, it's much roomier than my old side by side. I am a little disappointed with the freezer section, it seems much smaller than my side by side and I had frost develop within the first week. The tech who came out said it's because I had it full and the compressor has to run alot, so I will probably always get some frost. Also, it's a little noisier than my old fridge, but not so loud it's bothersome. The ice maker holder seems smaller than my other fridge too, but it does have a max ice feature to make ice more quickly. Overall I do like the refrigerator, other than the issues above.
