Customer Questions & Answers

Would one be able to use a pressure canner on this cooktop?

Asked by: PJ
never use a boiling water bath canner or a presser canner on a glass top. they will crack and break. I am an advanced master food preserver. I use my camp chef in the garage to can. However, a gas top works. Contact the county extension educator in your area for advice.

Anyone know if this is this a 3 or 4 electrical plug?

Asked by: Red
Does not have a plug. Either install one to match your receptacle or hard wire it.

Does the pan size always need to be larger than the burner size? i.e. our wok is 5-1/2"

Asked by: pete
No, any pan will work on any burner. If the pan is larger than the burner, it may not heat it all the way to the edge.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT!!!!!!! KitchenAid has made serious design mistakes with this product. On... DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT!!!!!!! KitchenAid has made serious design mistakes with this product. One of the key features, the Turbo setting for rapid boiling of water, consistently blows out the electronics for the right side of the unit. There is NO MENTION of this flaw in the documentation, in spite of the fact that KitchenAid has been aware of this problem for years. Their failure to forewarn consumers is a serious breach of faith, in my view. I believe there are numerous feature-equivalent and better designed induction cooktops on the market, and that any consumer would be best served to evaluate them before exposing themselves to this shoddy design and the uncaring customer service that backs it up.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Garbage Do not buy any induction cooktop from Kitchenaid. Mine stopped working after 2 years. Impossible to repair, even by the experts from Kitchenaid. I got to throw it to the garbage. They are giving my a tiny reduction if I buy an other one, not enough for me, I want my money back! And customer support is the worst I ever encountered.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Nice cooktop A little noisy. Cooks similar to gas. Poor installation instructions regarding the brackets. Make you purchase glue that is over $100 for the tube if your cooktop is going into a granite or quartz top....that's silly! [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 4 out of 5 by from New to induction cooking New to induction cooking, like that it is quick to heat and lower like using gas. Just wished the controls were easier to see as well as the cooking elements. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

So far it has performed flawlessly. It is powerful, responsive, and easy to use. This is my 5th Induction cooktop in the last 25 years. Not because they quit working, but because I have moved about every five years and always replace the gas or electric cooktop with an induction cooktop. Once you have cooked on an induction cooktop, you will never cook on any other type. This cooktop was about half the cost of the last two high-end ones that I purchased. I was concerned it might not perform as well. To my delight, it is every bit as fine a product as I have come to expect from other KitchenAid products. Just remember to take a small magnet with you when you purchase new cookware. The magnet must stick to the bottom for it to work on an induction cooktop. Aluminum, ceramic, and glass won't work. Oh, I forgot to mention the ease of cleanup. Since the cooktop itself does not heat up, spills do not burn onto the surface. The hot pan will eventually heat the surface, but nothing like landing on a hot burner. So enjoy your purchase. You will not regret it.
