Customer Reviews

Architect Series II 4.1 cu. ft. Slide-In Electric Range with Self-Cleaning Convection Oven in Stainless Steel is rated 4.2 out of 5 by 121.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from Good thing it's discontinued It worked fine while it was working although I have to agree with other reviews that the oven preheat time was excessive. We got it with our new house 2 1/2 years ago. We had to have a repair man come and fix the front control panel within the first few months. Now, 2 1/2 years later, the control panel has quit working again. It is no longer under warranty, and repairing it wouldn't be worth it. I'm buying a GE!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great looks and functionality. Bought this stove to replace a Kitchenaid Superba ceran top. We love the looks of the stove and the functionality but like other reviewers be fan is a little bothersome and could have been designed better. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 1 out of 5 by from This stove has two very poor features. We recently purchased a Kitchen Aid slide in stove and are very disappointed with the oven. The oven fan has a high-pitched noise that is heard throughout the house. We've had two appliance technicians look at the oven. They both stated the fan does not need repair. They told us it is the design of the vent system that creates the loud, high-pitched noise. In addition, because the stove vents out the front of the stove, moisture builds up on the oven door handle. When the oven door is opened, moisture drips onto the floor. We are so unhappy with the loud noise the fan makes we are meeting with the local appliance store manager to have this stove replaced.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Sleek design and great features, BUT... Have only had the stove for a month and hadn't used the oven yet. I can't believe how loud the fan is! I even had it checked by a repair person. It's just not loud, but shrill. He said all KA are loud. Is this true? It can't be fixed? So all reviewers have loud fans? Isn't that something people would mention? Maybe this doesn't bother many people because very few reviews mention this. I like the design and features, but am a little disappointed.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Doesn't go the distance. Purchased this about 2 1/2 years ago. First thing I noticed was you need to keep the directions book on hand because unless you use certain cooking features on a regular basis you won't remember how to use them. The different cooking features it has could be a bit different so when you look at the touch panel you can tell exactly what to do for each feature. Another problem I've had is when I clean the stove the ink wipes off the knobs. Now the left rear cooking element quit working yesterday. I placed a pot on there to melt butter, which it did. Then to reheat it I turned the element back on a bit later but it would not work. I feel that for the amount of money this is sold for I should not have any problems whatsoever until after the five year mark. So based on my experience Kitchenaid fell far short of my expectations. Will look for a different brand of stove.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This Range is a dream We did a Kitchen remodle, our previous range was 26 years old and was a mess. I wanted a range that was a sealed glass top with controls in the front. Simple enough request... very hard to find. KitchenAid has this range with convection oven and warming drawer. The architect series is a slide in range which mounts countertop level. It is a very clean design, the features are endless from the single to double burner options and the auto convection and the ability to lock out (child proof) the oven controls. If this feature could be added to the burners that would make this range perfect. it is very beautiful and cooks like a dream.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from The exhaust fan on this range is very annoying The range came with a scratched cooktop which had to be replaced immediately. Then I found that the exhaust fan made a very high pitched noise when the oven was on. I was finally able to get that replaced , although I was told it would probably not be much better.... it is definitely better, but I would certainly not buy another Kitchen Aid range of this kind. Finally even though I have removed one rack, it still takes 20 minutes to preheat to a 350 temperature, a very long time.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Overall excellent range We recently purchased this KitchenAid, white, smooth top, electric slide-in range to replace an ancient stove in a house we purchased. Overall, we love it. It is beautiful to look at, being the only range we have ever seen that has a white smooth top vs a black one. It is easy to keep clean, much to our surprise, and the speed at which it heats up the top elements is remarkable. We love all the bells and whistles, the dual burners, the many levels of heat for the cooktop, the convection oven feature and of course, the warming drawer. Controls are easy to find and operate. We have only 2 minor complaints. The sounds that signal that the preset temp has been reached in the oven or that the timer is finished, even though set as high as they can go, are not audible more than a few feet away from the range. This is primarily because of our second small complaint - the oven is loud. Even when not on convection, there is a fan that runs continuously and can be heard in the next room. This is a first for us. Our previous stove, a Jenn-Air, which we had to leave in our previous home due to its color, had all of the features of this stove but did not have a loud fan. I am assuming this is a "feature not a bug" but it is annoying. Hopefully, we will get used to it. The oven bakes well so far and though we haven't tested its calibration, it seems to operate as desired. We love the hot surface warning on the cooktop. The burners stay warm much longer than you would expect so this is an excellent safety feature. So, as stated, this is an excellent range and we could recommend it to others without hesitation.
