Customer Questions & Answers

How do I get the griddle?

The photo shows a griddle on top of the stove and it is listed in the specifications, but I did not get a griddle with the stove that I bought. How do I get the griddle?

Are the control knobs on the front metal or plastic?

Can't tell by looking at it and it doesn't state anywhere what they are made of. On the convection oven it says "fan & element". Is that an electric element?
Asked by: Josey
Josey, The knobs on this KitchenAid Gas Range are metal. The element for the convection cooking mode is electric. Thank you for viewing this KitchenAid home appliance.

Architect Series II 5.8 cu. ft. Gas Range with Self-Cleaning Convection Oven in Stainless Steel is rated 4.4 out of 5 by 155.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love my kitchenaid gas stove so far! Converted from glass top electric to gas....finally! Things Kitchenaid can improve: - need more clearance between oven handle and burner knobs - oven is hot to the touch at higher temps Things I love: - love love love consistent burner temps (electric was inconsistent) - easy to clean enamel top - interlocking large grids so they don't move around - large oven window - oven auto preheat 350 temp preset most common - simple intuitive oven panel, no need to refer to the manual - convection temp auto adjust - rapid boil burners - love love love 3 griddle position options (other brands you only one location choice - sealed burners - heavy duty metal burner knobs (other brands are plastic)

Rated 4 out of 5 by from oven quits the oven turned itself off during baking twice ruining two meals. Tech had to adjust the burner. Said very few burners are tested at the factory and he has many calls because of this.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from I am recommending this product....excellent for the price I bought in in black.....love it with white cabinets.....very formal look. Just like any stove use a soft abrasive to clean....I use Earthbrite or Pledge all surface cleaner....comes out spotless no streaks or scratches.....I have the microwave as well....looks great together, also has convection option....in a small kitchen, this gives you great options....also like that the broiler is not at the top.....only critique....shelves need a back lip to catch as you pull out.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from hot knobs!!! purchased this range about 6 months ago and had problems from day one. When you bake in the oven the knobs to control the range top get very hot.. I was not able to cook on top while i was baking unless I had gloves on. I burnt myself 2 times. I called kitchen aide 4 times to ask for new knobs and finally the 4th time they sent new ones! I replaced them and now it is fine. Thank you customer service person from my 4th call that finally believed me!! [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Hoping oven ingniter number four is the charm This thing is a bit over three years old. Food prep performance is satisfactory when it works. The oven has had bouts of failing to light and hold temperature culminating with the present third failure including a faulty replacement part. We are forced to freeze food we intended to roast after a few ruined dishes. I would put the food in and walk away to do something else returning 40 minutes later to a gooey, ruined mess. Oven temperature crashed. Refused to relight. Labor and ingredients in the trash. Today is Thursday. The tech told me he can't install the new part until the following Monday. The tech has done his best to hide his irritation at all my calls including telling me on visit number two the unit was 100% operational. Bad feelings on both sides all because Kitchen Aid/Whirlpool cannot be bothered to exercise the meanest scintilla of quality control.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great stove with a problem I have had this model since August. The oven is quite large with 3 racks and can handle large baking sheets. I really had no complaints until today, I love all of the features on my stove with the exception of the Aqua lift self cleaning oven. I followed the instructions to the letter and was surprised at what little improvement there was. It did nothing to remove a single mark on the interior walls and removed very little of the burn on food marks in the bottom. Bottom line is you will need an over liner or it's back to buying oven cleaner. :(

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The appearance is very rich. We especially like the "Easy Convect" feature. The full grates are a real safety feature, they prevent pots from tipping. We also like the fifth burner. The design could be improved by either lighting the control panel, or reducing the glare from it.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from I like my gas range Only thing that hasn't met my expectations is the self-cleaning function. It is the kind that uses water instead of heat and it didn't clean up all the spills as well as I'd have liked.
