Can't tell by looking at it and it doesn't state anywhere what they are made of. On the convection oven it
says "fan & element". Is that an electric element?

Answer:
Josey,
The knobs on this KitchenAid Gas Range are metal. The element for the convection cooking mode is electric. Thank you for viewing this KitchenAid home appliance.

Customer Reviews

Architect Series II 5.8 cu. ft. Gas Range with Self-Cleaning Convection Oven in White is rated 4.1 out of 5 by 127.
Rated 3 out of 5 by from Good and bad I don't find reviews useful when someone has had an appliance for only a short time, so I've waited to write this one. I got this range nine months ago. The pros: the stove heats up nicely and cooks evenly. The dual burners are really useful for different-sized pans. The warming element is a nice bonus. The oven is large enough to cook several dishes at once. The cons: The stove dials are hard to press (almost impossible if you have arthritis) and confusing since every dial is different. The EasyConvect in the oven doesn't work (it drops the temp 100 degrees, which then means no cooking is happening). And the Acqua Lift cleaning is a joke -- some "technology." It only works if 1) you don't use the oven or 2) if nothing spills or splashes into the oven or 3) maybe -- if you clean the oven every single time you use it. If you forget, you're screwed. Overall, it's a disappointing product from a brand that I expected to be better.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Glass cooktop not for me! First time with a glass cooktop and not fond of it, at least not yet...though to clean...have to clean it good every time I cook, and the black surface always looks streaked...hate the black top! I use the recommended cleaner and checked out how to clean it on You Tube so I'm doing it right. Scary to use the razor blade on it but have to almost every cleaning. Haven't used the self cleaning oven yet. Went with the Kitchenaid because it matches our other 2 new Kitchenaid appliances. They all do look very sharp together! Rated 4 out of 5 by from Cooks and bakes great This is well made and cooks evenly. Two things to note, however. The sides of the oven get pretty warm, almost too warm to touch. If you are slotting this into a narrow space, keep this in mind. And the top gets marred pretty easily, with cleaning being pretty difficult. I accidentally heated a pan with some minor residue on the bottom and now have a visible ring I can't clean off. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Stovetop great, Oven not so. We bought this a month before Thanksgiving thinking this was the answer to our past problems at this time of the year. The turkey took about an hour and a half longer than it should have at that temperature. Then we found that everything takes longer than any of the directions say. I read that you can adjust the settings to your own liking. I don't understand why a temp of say 350 degrees would not put out 350 degrees. without having to do anything. I moved the calibration setting twice and maybe have to move it up again. I don't think I shoul have to do anything. Please explain how I can tell if it is a defect. Rated 5 out of 5 by from A cook's delight. It's been a month since I started using my new stove/oven and I couldn't be happier. I've always been a fan of the cook top surface units and this one doesn't disappoint. The 5 burners are very versatile and I've used them all at this point. And the oven is a dream....7 levels, 3 trays and convection all in one place...woohoo. The only downside is that the storage drawer is somewhat flimsy. However, taking care not to overload it is the answer. I have the broiling tray, and 4 cookie sheets in it and that appears to be the limit to having it open and close with ease. Rated 5 out of 5 by from Surprised!!! I have ALWAYS had a gas stove- this time I decided that after 44 years- manufactures probably have changed electric stoves so I decided to purchase the new style. Well, to my surprise, I really enjoy my electric stove!!!!! It heats up quickly and turns off quickly...similar to gas. I am learning how to keep the stove top clean and haven't had any problems cleaning the ceramic glass top. I am pleased with my Kitchen Aide Stove, the oven is wide and I can fit large roast along with 2 other dishes in my oven. Very Pleased with Kitchen Aide!!!!!
