Product Overview

The induction technology used in this KitchenAid Architect Series II induction range gives the cooktop the type of power, speed and responsiveness normally found only with gas cooktops. Induction technology transfers energy directly into any magnetic cookware for fast, efficient cooking. And that efficiency is only one reason you'll enjoy this freestanding range. Its Even-Heat True Convection Oven provides even baking across all racks. As an added delight, the warming drawer has a slow cook function that allows it to perform like a crockpot -- no need for another countertop appliance.

  • Spacious 6.2 cu. ft. capacity easily handles family dinners, and holiday cooking
  • Induction cooktop features four Induction Boost elements (one 3700-watt, one 3200-watt, and two 1800-watt). The heat is generated directly in the pan, keeping the cooking surface cooler than with a traditional element
  • Simmer, Melt, Keep Warm, Performance Boost, and Pan Size Detection on all elements gives you precision at all temperatures. Performance Boost adds extra power for getting water to a boil quickly. Pan Size Detection ensures cookware is suitable for the element selected
  • EvenAir True Convection with Auto Convection Conversion. A high-watt element and fan help maintain even temperatures for consistent roasting and baking. And Auto Conversion automatically converts standard recipe temperatures
  • Even-Heat Technology evenly disperses heat inside the oven for consistent results
  • Variable broil: especially helpful when broiling thicker cuts and unevenly shaped pieces of meat, fish and poultry
  • Slow Cook Warming Drawer with SatinGlide system. Cooks food slowly at a low temperature. It eliminates the need for a separate appliance and the drawer glides out smoothly for easy access
  • Touch-activated electronic cooktop and oven controls are easy-to-use for precise temperature adjustment
  • Oven Control Lock function for both cooktop and oven helps prevent unintended/unsupervised use and control changes
  • AquaLift Self-Clean Technology. Cleans your oven in less than an hour without odors and at a temperature below 200°F. This innovative system combines low heat with water to release baked-on spills
  • Extra-large oven window and bright oven light provide clear visibility of the oven interior, allowing you to monitor cooking progress without opening the door so temperatures remain steady
  • 3 oven racks include a SatinGlide roll-out extension rack which allows easy access to position and remove food in the oven. Included Max Capacity rack fits neatly on the lowest oven glide to provide support and room for a large roast or holiday turkey
  • Star K certified for use on the Sabbath and other religious holidays when Sabbath Mode is being used
  • Limited 1-year, limited 5-year parts only warranty on select component parts
  • Induction cooktops require that you use cookware with magnetic properties. If a magnet sticks to the bottom of a pan, the cookware is compatible

Customer Reviews

Architect Series II 6.2 cu. ft. Electric Induction Range with Self-Cleaning Convection Oven in Stainless Steel is rated 4.3 out of 5 by 229.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great features, but... The magnetic induction stovetop is great. The ovens seem to be on the cool side. Breads and cookies are taking longer to proof and/or cook than indicated by about 30%-40% which would imply the temperature sensor is off but we have not yet had the technician out to verify. That is not a complaint, but really more of a new-stove-thing to work out. Our complaints are very common to almost everyone who has purchased this particular model stove. Our stove was advertised with a remote wireless temperature probe which is yet to arrive. Also, we have not been able to put in our order for the pots and pans and have been unable to get hold of customer support here on the West Coast. The hours are geared for people on the East Coast. By the time I get off work, it is too late to call and they don't answer their phones on the weekend. I'm beginning to wonder what good our 5-Year extended warranty is if Kitchen Aide doesn't answer the phone. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Disappointed, Previous Model was Better After owning the previous version of this induction range in my last house I had high hopes for this new and improved model, but after living with it for about 6 months I'm mostly disappointed. I think the range itself is attractive as a range can be and it's nice that they eliminated the backsplash control panel, which worked really well for me since I put this range in a kitchen island. Where it falls most short though is in the control interface, which makes simple tasks more complicated than they need to be. Let's say you want to turn on a burner, you need to 1) push power, 2) push the burner selection you want, 3) slide your finger along the power selector until the desired power is reached. Might not sound like much but compared to a traditional unit where you reach over and rotate the dial and you have your burner set and you'll see that the interface on this range requires a lot more time and concentration. If you're going to control multiple burners you have to first select the burner, slide your finger then select the other burner and slide your finger. Impossible? No. But, when you're trying to multitask in the kitchen it's just annoying. Add to this that I often I find that the controls aren't responsive if you're hands are wet, hot, or cold or if there's moisture or food on the controls (which is easy since they're in the middle of the cooktop). The extra time it takes to sort this out can mean the difference of something getting overcooked or a pot boiling over. Whoever designed this does not cook a lot. Other issues: too many annoying beeping reminders with no way to turn them off (there is a turn off reminders setting, but it doesn't seem to do much). Stainless around control panel scratches easy. Fit and finish is not up to par and KA doesn't warranty "cosmetics". Software is buggy - have had 3 service calls in 5 months, control board replaced twice.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Not a good experience Overall the range works ok. However, the cook top gives a funny noise when it heats up and the oven takes ages to reach the desired temperature (much slower than our old range which was 18 years old when we replaced it. Gone with the good-old-day quality!). The oven door handle was installed incorrectly when delivered. Had to call up customer service to have a technician come around o fix it (Dont understand how can the product gets to come out of the factory at the first place). The worst is that this range is supposed to come with a wireless meat probe and a bonus set of induction cookware. The wireless probe was not delivered when the range was delivered. The lady at customer support tried to convince me it was not included with this range. I had to get her to read the product description page on the website where it is clearly stated the wireless meat probe was part of the product. After 30 minutes of "educating" the lady at customer service, I finally got told the probe was on back order. It has been three months since we bought the range, neither the set of cookware nor the probe has shown up and the customer service still cant give a definite delivery date for the probe. "You are not alone. It is just a matter of wait..." I was told. Hmm... Lets say if you want a trouble-free experience, please look elsewhere... [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Impressive Range I am very impressed with the inductive stove top and how reactive it is as well as the power boil feature. the precision temp settings make cooking so much easier and the simmer function makes soups and slow cooking a breeze. The convection oven makes converting your standard oven recipe easy and the low oven has come in handy many times. If I have to say anything negative about this oven is the time is takes to warm up it takes twice as long as my convectional oven [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fancy and industrial! I absolutely love the look. I wanted a slide in and still wanted a double oven. It's not a true double oven, bit the baking drawer on the bottom still gets the job done. In fact, this range does so many things, I feel like I am in cooking school. They were hard to find, but I found silicone mats to use on the range under my pots and pans so I didn't have to worry about movement and scratches. It really does clean up so well compared to an electronic cook top. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Review of range I have had this stove for four months and I am very happy with the baking function of the stove. The bottom oven is about worthless as it is far to small for most casseroles. The cleaning functions is a major problem and requires a good deal of scrubbing. The cook top is a bit more difficult to clean than other glass cooktops that I have used. I do like the convection baking and the probe worked like a charm the two times I've used it. I bought the stove mainly for the second oven and was very disappointed to find that it was not big enough for a ban of rolls. I believe you have work to do to make this a stove that would be fabulous. Also the timer is so soft that you can not hear it in another room. Who stands over their oven to check to make sure the baking is done. Most people multi task.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love it! We bought this induction range for our kitchen renovation and are so glad we did. I love the boxy look- very professional- and it cooks great too! Can't believe how fast the induction heats water. Baking results have been excellent. So glad we bought this! [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]
