Customer Reviews

Architect Series II 6.7 cu. ft. Double Oven Electric Range with Self-Cleaning Convection Oven in White is rated 3.4 out of 5 by 5.
Rated 2 out of 5 by from Not so sure... I've had the range for just over a year. After about 6 months the multi burner didn't heat well. I've never used the self cleaning feature. The oven floor is chipped and the blue enamel is coming off. I'm not sure if I'll be able to use it. It's a lot of money for a product that is falling apart after a year.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from It's a great oven We purchased two identical units and both have met our expectations. Love the double oven but miss the storage drawer. Would have preferred stainless steel but that is my personal preference.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Double Oven is Great This model has an attractive design and the top oven is bigger than the one we had previously so larger pans can fit in it, along with 2 baking dishes. I use the upper oven 95% of the time I cook. It heats quickly, is much more efficient than a single large oven, and has great time settings. It even has a cook time setting that will shut off the oven automatically after the cook time expires. My one complaint about the oven is the stovetop is hard to clean. Grease and oil marks show on it easily, and leave visible streaks on the stove top and stainless steel frame. It does come with a sample stove top cleaner that works well. The model has 5 burners (4 burners and 1 warmer). The largest, front left burner has 3 settings so you can control how many elements heat. The front right burner has an Ultra High setting that heats super fast. However, the back right burner heats much slower than the identical one at the back left. I am not sure if this is a defect or if it is because the back right burner also has a "melt" setting which makes it function differently. Overall, I highly recommend this oven and the matching overhead microwave. We purchased both and hope to gets years of use from them.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love the double oven! I love the cooktop and absolutely love the double oven!
Date published: 2015-05-29
Rated 2 out of 5 by from Disappointed I wish I had given more credence to some of the more critical reviews of this range. I put it down to user inexperience or fluke defect, and I shouldn't have. I have been using the range for about 6 weeks now. It's beautiful, no doubt about that. However, here are the issues I've found to be problematic: 1. The stove top is really impossible to keep clean-looking. It shows every speck of dust, pollen, water droplet, etc. No matter how diligent you are about polishing, it won't look sleek and clean for long at a time, even when you aren't using it. 2. The stove top burners. This is the biggest problem for me. Please pay attention and don't disregard what others have said about the stove top. Except for the Ultra Hi burner, the others are very weak. It takes FOREVER to bring something to a boil on the other burners, and then if you add something like frozen veggies or pasta, it again takes FOREVER for them to come back to a boil. I have tried every type of pot you can think of, thinking the pot might be the problem; I've made sure my pot size was appropriate for the burner size. It made no difference whatsoever. When I normally would have used med-low in the past to saute, say, chicken breasts in olive oil, I now have to use medium high. I had another glass stovetop range for 20 yrs, and even on its last legs, its burners far outperformed these. These burners are extremely weak, and I so wish I'd paid attention to the reviews complaining about that. 3. The stovetop is so slick that pots literally slide on it with the slightest touch. For that reason alone, I would stay away from this range if you have children. 4. The burner outlines are difficult to see when you're cooking. Between that and the sliding issue, I have to check often to be certain my pot is still centered on the burner. 5. The upper oven. As others mentioned, foods do tend to over-brown on the bottom when using the upper oven. 6. You have to be extremely careful putting food in the upper oven as there is very, very little clearance for your hand. It would be nice if the oven opened even just an inch further to insure you don't burn yourself. Those things said, I DO love having two ovens. And the range itself is gorgeous. I hate to leave a negative review, but this is a big purchase for a lot of us, and I want others to take the reviews seriously and not assume it's a user issue, as I did. I am heartbroken over the performance of the stovetop burners. I expected so much more from KitchenAid. I have given this more than 6 weeks, have tried everything I can think of, and it's clear to me now that others were right. It's not user error or an isolated defect -- there is a problem with the stovetop burners on this model.
