Can the gas burners be lit if electricity goes out?

Asked by: Pete
Yes. I have a duel fuel stove. The top burners have electronic ignition but I lit the burners with a match or long lighter. Worked just fine

I'm buying a 2 story home and the stove sits on an interior wall, how does the venting work for the stove?

My current home has a stove with a vent going out of the roof. How do you vent a stove in a two story home?
Asked by: Red69
Hi Red69, You may use a range hood or over the range microwave that returns the filtered air back to the room. Mike

Replacing a 30-inch gas range

Hello, I currently have a Maytag Gemini Gas range that is also 30 inches wide. I want to replace it with this oven. My Maytag is 46 3/4 inches tall and the depth is 26 5/16 inches.I wonder if this is too deep and would stick out too far from the existing space.
Asked by: Rozziecarol
to tell you the truth I would not purchase an Kitchenaid product they break down constantly and the parts are very expensive even with the warranty. by unit has been replaced twice and the computer board witch is under the burners goes out constantly,$600.00.But to answer your question they have made space in the back of the unit to accommodate your gas shot off valve when you push it back to the wall. Check the product in store in the back to see. Each unit is different

Customer Reviews

Architect Series II Double Oven Gas Range with Self-Cleaning Convection Oven in Stainless Steel is rated 4.5 out of 5 by 317.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love this range. This is the best range you never owned. We love the way you can adjust the oven temperature plus or -5°to change the oven temperature to run hotter or cooler. We found our oven set at just 350°was actually 345°. We were able to adjust the temperature of 5°so that the oven cut at the precise temperature needed. We cut a lot of roles cupcakes and they've turned out better with this oven that made it in our last. The temperature is so even though it doesn't really matter where you place the food on the shelf. Or allow you to put two pans of roles on the same shelf and they both the equally. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Stay away knob stems break after one year I have had nothing but issues with the unit's knobs. Kitchen Aid only warrantied the knobs for one year. We had an extended warranty with Loews. Once that expired we had to pay over $300 to have the stems replace. The range is four years old and all front knobs have now been replaced at least once. Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Features for the Price This purchase replaces a two oven stove we had for twelve years. That was a key factor in choosing this unit because we enjoy the convenience of having two ovens. The unit is sleek and modern in design and it matched our current decor of stainless steel appliances. The range top layout has five burners, although the griddle burner in the middle will work best when no more than two of the other burners are in use. It does come with a small griddle that would never meet the needs of just the two of us and we have a larger one of our own. The elliptical shaped burner will heat the griddle evenly, rather than having to perch it over two conventional burners. The keypad is well designed and has a very clear display panel. Both ovens have a "keep warm" setting which is a nice feature. There is also a setting for proofing bread that we will be trying. Both ovens heat up quickly and hold temperature well. This unit has timers to turn the unit on and then off, that you can set. We found it easy to clean, which is a pleasant surprise for a stainless steel top. There are more features but this gives you a good idea of why we like it. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Burned for the last time My wife and I spent over $6,500 on all new KitchenAid Architect Series II hi-line appliances when renovating our kitchen 2 years and 10 months ago. This was the first time we had ever chosen top rated (with the cost associated) appliances, thinking we would not have to replace them for many years. Within the first year, the refrigerator had two ice making systems installed, plus two vegetable crisper handles replaced all under warranty. One of those broke recently. Since then there have been two more ice makers installed. Then our dishwasher stopped draining as the pump failed. Today, after our gas stove ovens (yes, the double oven) would not light, a service tech tells us the motherboard is done, due probably to the heat from the design. We thought it would just be the igniters. Service calls after the warranties expired (we were told that due to the quality we would not need an extended warranty) we have spent over $1,200 in service calls and parts to keep these "hi-line" appliances going. We are empty nesters, so there are no excessive use issues. If you dare purchase these, buy every warranty you can get your hands on as you will surely need them. We are so disappointed in the brand and quality. Every tech told us that today's appliances all have pretty much the same parts and to buy cheap instead of higher quality. And you should have seen some of the service tech's that were sent for the warranty issues, some 100 miles away when there were plenty of good quality ones close by.. KitchenAid has lost us forever as a customer. Caveat Emptor. You have been warned.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Cooked for hundreds using this stove Cooking if a passion of mine. I work in a volunteer kitchen around professional equipment, and when I had the opportunity to introduce a high quality stove into our newly remodeled kitchen 9 months ago, I chose this stove. I have not been dissapointed in it's performance. I cook everyday. I also host many parities, including an engagement party for my best friend, where I made chicken cordon for 50. The only downside to this stove is that when tomato sauce accidently stayed on the control panel display area for two hours it ate off the brushed stainless finish. We found out from the rep at the store that the panel has a painted on finish and there's nothing that can be done to restore that.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Not enough cooktop area I purchased this item because I was looking for a double oven, I have heard good things about the KitchenAid brand and because it matched the KitchenAid dishwasher that I purchased a year ago. What I never expected was such a poorly designed unit that has far less cooktop space than my lower-end Frigidaire stove. The first experience that I had with the stove was cooking a meal for Christmas Eve, and to my surprise I was unable to fit 3 tall 8qt stockpots on the burners at the same time. The oven knobs are angled up, which takes room away from the front, and the control panel sticks out in the back, which takes away from the back. My advice to anyone who cooks for large gatherings is to measure your current stove and compare it to this one prior to purchasing. I must mention that I am also disappointed in the design of the back of the stove, there is one specific place that your gas line must be located in order for the stove to push flush up against the back wall. Mine however is not located there and the stove sits out about an inch and a half from the wall. I must mention that my old stove was designed to accommodate a gas line at any point along the back of the stove. These are two things I never even thought to consider before purchasing, live and learn I guess.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great range, but not perfect We bought this range for the convenience of having two ovens, which is fantastic! Almost everything can be baked in the upper oven, so we are using just enough energy for heating a small space and no bending over. We use the large, lower oven for large roasts and large french ovens. The range in general feels very substantial and well-made. The problems with the design of the range: the stainless steel cooktop stains very easily. Also, if I am not meticulous about avoiding the burners when cleaning, the electronics system goes haywire and beeps until any moisture is completely gone. Finally, have had the unit less than a year and already one of the stovetop valves has failed. Repairman came but needed to order replacement part, another visit.
