Customer Reviews

Architect Series II Top Control Dishwasher in Stainless Steel with Stainless Steel Tub, ProScrub Trio Option, 42 dBA is rated 4.5 out of 5 by 266.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from Good when it works but complete motor failure in 2 years Purchased in June 2014 and initially loved the performance and low noise of the unit - sometimes when it ran you couldn't even tell! However, recently the performance started to degrade to the point that it isn't washing dishes at all. After speaking to Kitchenaid I was informed that it was a motor failure and that since it was past the 1 year warranty I would need to incur all costs, no flexibility or customer assistance at all. As a result I cannot justify recommending this unit to anyone - why pay more for something that breaks in two years?

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Buy something other than a KITCHENAID! We went to buy a dishwasher in January 2015. We had decided on a dishwasher that was $600 and were ready to go when we were convinced to go with a KitchenAid dishwasher that was over $1200. It will last longer and cost us less in the long run. We had to wait for delivery because it wasn't in stock. Not a big deal, except we didn't have a working dishwasher and could've gotten it elsewhere for the same price in stock. Fast-forward 11 months and the control panel went out and the dishwasher didn't work. Kitchenaid sent out service and 2 weeks later, the control panel was replaced and the dishwasher worked again. Fast-forward another 11 months and again the dishwasher isn't working. Looks like we got a lemon for $1200. When I called KitchenAid, they told me there is limited warranty and the control panel is still under warranty but I have to pay for labor and diagnostics. RIDICULOUS. When I asked the service lady, Naomi, if she felt it acceptable for me to spend $1200 for a dishwasher that worked less than 2 years, she told me, "they aren't made to last like they used to be". Outrageous! I specifically bought the more expensive one so it would last longer. Kitchenaid won't stand by their products. Buy another brand!!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Dishes and silverware dirty and spotted after "cleaned" in t Just got this dishwasher and am VERY disappointed. I use the Cascade packet and rinse aid that came with this dishwasher and rinse my dishes and silverware off before putting them in, but every time I use it, whether on Normal or ProWash cycle, the dishes come out with bits of food stuck to them and the silverware comes out tremendously spotted and also with little bits of food on them. Should not be like this and should not have to have a brand new dishwasher serviced. Would not recommend this dishwasher at all. I've attached 3 photos of silverware just "cleaned" in this dishwasher. Clearly subpar, unacceptable performance from a new dishwasher!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Cleans very well, unbelievably quiet, love it! I've had this dishwasher for about a month now, and I love it. I've used the ProClean cycle almost exclusively, and dishes come out spotless; the average cycle time seems to be about two and a half hours, though. When running, it is exceptionally quiet; I have to listen very carefully to hear it at all. Because the lower rack is configured completely differently from my old dishwasher, I'm still getting used to how to load it, but that isn't the dishwasher's fault. I've read a couple of reviews that complain that the detergent door doesn't open completely during the wash cycle, leaving detergent in the dispenser, but I haven't experienced that myself. Overall, an awesome dishwasher...highly recommended!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Love our new dishwasher This is my 4th kitchenaid dishwasher thru 42 years of marriage, and the very best one so far...only been using it for 10 days, but it is amazingly quiet. Our kitchen is close to the living room, and our prior dishwasher was noisy, but this tops it by far. Cleans very very well. We just updated giving our 10 year kitchenaid away still worked well. Not sure about the inset control buttons....we don't have little ones around so I probably would have been fine with the controls on the front like all the others we had. Just a matter of getting used to it. And we have used one every day with pots and pans, etc. So happy we purchased this one so far!

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Spots & Grit especially on top rack. SUPER Quiet, rack arran We purchased our unit a couple of months ago and have continued to have quality issues with the cleaning. We scrape and rinse the dishes (although we did not have to on our old machine, but I understand that Energy Star units may require this). However, the quality of the clean is very poor. Silver comes out spotted and often with bits of grit. Glasses and items on the top rack appear as if no water is hitting them, with a thick grit layer inside the glasses often. I have tried using the detergent provided with the machine and two other types. I have checked the filter. I have run the tap to make sure hot water is flowing before starting. I've checked the water dispersers that spin and they seem fine and are clean. My only assumption is that sometimes the water doesn't make it to the top rack? I have tried using the ProWash setting and the Tough setting with some luck, but not reliably. I am, frankly, also less than happy with how the racks are arranged as I can fit much less in this unit than my old one, but I have to say this unit is amazingly quiet. I can live with my other issues if I can get it to actually clean properly.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from QUIET!!! Bought this during a partial kitchen remodel. Not our first choice - the KitchenAid model we wanted was out of stock. This thing is QUIET, and it looks really nice (almost a flat panel of stainless. The dishes are VERY CLEAN and VERY DRY, which was not the case with our 11 year old Whirlpool. If there is a downside - it has MUCH more room for silverware than our older one, but everyone knows, the more silverware you put in, the less likely it will all be cleaned (and that is still true). I'd rather a LITTLE more space for dishes other than plates on bottom. That has been an UNPLEASANT surprise.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Really quiet, smaller than our previous one Our old Kitchenaid died so we ended up getting a new one. This Kitchenaid is super quiet. You can hear it so you know it is running, but it takes listening and it doesn't interfere with the TV, talking on the phone, or anything. However, it doesn't seem to be as big on the inside as our previous one in that we seem to be able to fit less into the new one. I miss being able to delay the dishwasher 2 or 4 or 6 hours instead of only being able to delay 4 hours with the new one. I preferred the flip down feature of the previous dishwashers silverware holders. the height between the bottom rack and the top rack also seems less. However, it cleans our dishes really well and it is QUIET which is what we really wanted.
