This is my first charcoal grill and so far I am happy with it. It was delivered in a meticulously packaged box. I had no parts missing and each part was scratch/dent free. Installation took about an hour and half and only tool I used was a Phillips screw driver to assemble 54 parts. Even though I was able to completely assemble the grill by following the instructions manual but the manual still needs considerable improvements. Just pay a little attention and you should have no trouble assembling it.
Overall appearance of the grill is nice and the material feels above average. Since the grill arms are foldable, it takes a lot less space in my garage (31â wide, 22.5â deep). One of the casters is lockable which is handy. The charcoal tray height is adjustable on the fly which I found very useful when grilling a variety together.
I do find it hard to maneuver the grill when storing it in the corner space since the right 2 wheels do not swivel like casters do. Warming rackâs bar edges that are placed into the top lid do not have any built-in mechanism to permanently secure it. As I open/close the lid a few times, the rack bar edges slide out of the lid hole and the rack false down. Itâs extremely annoying. A hitch pin clip would have been a great idea to secure warming rack bar edges on the outside of the lid holes.
Grates have a lot of real estate (28.5â wide 18.5â deep) which allowed me to grill large serving on a single go.
I have grilled sheesh kabobs, lamb chops, chicken thighs, steaks and variety of vegetables on it. I found the food taste better and smelled great when grilled using charcoal compared to my gas grill. So now this grill is my 1st preference every time I grill. I am much satisfied with its overall features and highly recommend it.

This is a solid and well built grill for outdoor BBQ'ing. Some of the more important features, Chimney style stack, built in -easy to read thermometer and adjustable height heat box for low and slow grilling.
The unit ships un-assembled and assembly time will vary.

Having used a name brand kettle style grill for years, I got used to its limitations and made do. Then I got this fantastic KitchenAid charcoal grill from Home Depot! My wife has a KitchenAid Professional Mixer, uses it weekly, and raves about how much she loves it. Needless to say, I was excited to see if KitchenAid's new grill lived up to their reputation. The grill arrived on Christmas Eve, and immediately, I was struck by how heavy the box was! Fortunately, the delivery driver was kind enough to help me get it up to my front door.
Opening the box, I was impressed at how well it was packaged. There is a lot of packaging material to dispose of, but the grill was well protected, so that is the important thing. My four year old grandson helped me with the assembly process. I will say here that KitchenAid could go a long ways towards making the assembly instructions much better. For instance, some of the parts were labled "A", "B", etc., but the instructions don't mention those labels, and some of the instruction depictions are misleading and lack clarity. Eventually, we sorted out which parts went where, and began assembling. I will say that I was able to do all the assembly with just a Phillips screwdriver and my bare hands, although they recommend a pair of pliers or wrench.
One of the first things I noticed, was the black metal all has a nice protective coating that should resist rust for a long time, and other metal parts are stainless steel. There is a very nice high quality temperature gauge mounted in the grill lid. The grills themselves are made of cast iron, with a very nice porcelain coating over the iron to help prevent food from sticking. Being used to those cheap chromed wire grills on my old kettle-grill, I was impressed with the grills on this KitchenAid! This grill also has a nice warming grill that sits above the cooking grills in the lid, and it too has a porcelain coating on it.
At the very bottom, the grill has a lower shelf for storage, and rather than the typical wire shelf you usually see, this one is sheet steel with drainage holes in it. At the base of the grill body, you have a nice drawer for catching ashes, and it is easily removable for emptying. Just above that, is a stainless steel access door with vents built into it. Just to the right of that is a nice lever for raising and lowering the charcoal tray to help control cooking heat below your food. The charcoal tray itself is nice and roomy, but could be easier to remove to empty used charcoal brick leftovers. The metal shelves at each end are a very nice touch! They provide plenty of room for holding whatever you need. The shelves come complete with little knobs on the front for hanging tools, and that too is a nice touch! There is also a handle tool included for removing/replacing the cooking grills.
Christmas Day, we were ready to use the KitchenAid grill for cooking our Christmas dinner! As you can see in my photos, there was snow on the ground and it was bitterly cold, but I was not to be deterred! Firing up some charcoal, I put the grill to the real test, by cooking four slabs of beef long ribs. These were average sized rib slabs, and they pretty much filled all the cooking space on the grill surfaces. The temperature gauge did a nice job of giving me an accurate measurement of the cooking temperature. When all was done, our BBQ ribs turned out fabulous, and we ate like kings! Clean-up was easy, wiping off spilled BBQ sauce with a damp sponge. There was nearly no food stuck to the porcelain coated grills, so I was impressed with that as well.
All in all, I am very impressed with this new KitchenAid grill, and would highly recommend it to anyone who loves to grill. I very much look forward to years of cooking family meals on this beauty! Thanks KitchenAid and Home Depot!

This is a well built charcoal grill. Grill has a huge cooking area to cook for any group of people. The smoke stack can be used to regular the heat and the time of smoking. It came in about 3000 pieces if you can get this already built by the store i would recommend this. Has a steel tray to remove the charcoal ashes. Temperature gauge is very useful. This is a great affordable grill to any person who enjoys grilling on a charcoal gril.

Rated 5 out of 5Â by Kimber Will never go back to a gas grill!!!!!!
Not as hard to assemble as written in some of the other reviews...came with no missing parts...grill space for a home of 5 is awesome...clean up is easy. My only complaint would be when we opened the box , there was a dent in the lid and on the side of the lid, not bad enough to return it, but there all the same. I purchased this item to bring to Canada as a birthday gift.
