Money well spent. It makes mixing cake batter and making bread dough for rolls so much easier. I just love it.

My mother was a professional chef for over 30 years and I got my love for cooking and baking from her. I received this exact same mixer as a gift from her WAY back in 1997. Over the past 18 years she's made everything you can possibly imagine. Up until a few months ago she performed flawlessly but one day wouldn't turn on. At first I was very upset thinking that my faithful old friend had died. Then, after a few cups of coffee and a little bit of thought, I took her out into the shop and removed the motor brushes-or what was left of them after all these years! A quick trip to a small but well stocked local appliance store netted me a new set of brushes. About 5 bucks and 5 minutes worth of work later, my old friend was alive and well and doing what she loves most-mixing up another batch of pizza dough for my youngest daughter and her friends to use for a sleepover that night!
You just can't beat these mixers for price or quality! There are so many attachments available for them that you can use them for practically anything you'll ever want to. The fact that they're still made in the U.S.A. and are easily serviced and repaired is another big plus.
As for the reviews that complain about them being heavy, that's because, except for the knobs that are on the switch and lock lever, they're made completely out of metal including the drive gears. If you want light weight, go to a discount store and buy a cheap plastic toy. Then try to mix something heavy with it. You'll regret it very soon. Personally, I'll stick with my Kitchenaid. In fact, I'm going to buy 2 more as Christmas gifts this year, one for my son and the other for my oldest daughter.

First and foremost, you simply can not go wrong owning one of these machines because it's a space saver in it's own rights when you really think about all the extras you are getting with the simple cost of attachments such as the pasta maker and sausage maker, so forth and so on. Another thing that I like about this machine is the build quality and option to tilt the head. No matter how you cut it, this is a awesome product all the way around the bin and should be owned by every household. I am truly grateful to be one of the lucky owners of this product. I have so many things in a single machine, and again that is something you just simply can't beat. Base on the build quality alone I can tell this product will be around for a very long time. For me this was money very well spent, and I'd do it all over again. Some say that this product is too heavy, This is just an added plus for me because the weight makes it harder to tip over and break and makes me feel that it will be around a very long time.

I have many food allergies. So I cook everything from scratch. My mixer gets used on nearly a daily basis. I already had a kitchenaide heavy duty mixer that has been a workhorse for 10 years now. I needed an additional mixer to save time. For instance yesterday I made French bread, cookies with icing, chocolate mousse and and overnight oats all at the same time. The artisan mixer is so smooth when it is whipping egg whites. It's also powerful. I have to say I do like the tilt back head rather than the bowl lift. If they made a heavy duty with a tilt back I would be in heaven I was using a Hamilton Beach hand mixer for cookie dough. The dough actually made a sort of tornado that rose up between the beaters! The artisan handles that cookie dough with no problems. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

I bought this mixer because Cook's Illustrated recommended it. I can see, after 3 months, that CI was spot-on. It is a substantial-sized kitchen tool, and I've used it at least once a week since getting it. Primarily I bought this for bread mixing, and it clomps along even on the firmest dough (though it does "hop" a bit on firm doughs). The powerful engine can handle anything I throw at it. It also does a fabulous job on whipped cream -- far better-textured than a hand-mixer could make. I've used it to make cakes and cream-cheese dips, frostings and herb butters, and there just doesn't seem to be much this mixer can't do to perfection. It's not a food processor, so don't expect it to chop and dice or to cut butter into biscuit dough, but it fulfills its function perfectly. It's heavy-duty and substantial, and so easy to hand-wash I haven't bothered putting its components through the dishwasher. 100% recommend. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

I've always wanted a Kitchen Aid stand mixer. I don't cook but I do bake and switching from a hand held mixer to this stand mixer has been amazing! Perfecting my macaronage and lots of other sweet goodness :) [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Everything I would expect of the name Kitchen Aid. This mixer included the three main mixing attachments that I need, and a stainless bowl for longevity. Used twice so far, easy clean up, and looks great on the counter. Several speeds to choose, and torque to muscle through a thick batter or dough. Overall, excellent mixer.
