So many new dishwashers vent out on top underneath counters or into the cabinets on side causing damage and mold/odor issues.

the steam vents out the side. According to the installation instructions, there is supposed to be a two inch clearance on either side of the dishwasher.

Customer Reviews

Rated 3.9 out of 5 by 155 reviewers.
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Still hoping this will be a good dishwasher The dishwasher was delivered by Home Depot on a Monday, and on the surface appeared ok. However, I wanted to wait for the weekend to install it,. When I opened the door, there was a scraping sound and on inspection the frame around the tub was bent, as if the dishwasher had been dropped at some point. Home Depot refused to replace it. Instead they scheduled a repair man to 'fix it'. The repair man has to replace the whole tub (which is the dishwasher minus the door and pump!). So it has been almost a month since the dishwasher was delivered, it has not yet been repaired, the store manager refused to replace it, and I have lost a day of work dealing with this. In short, you can take your chances buying appliances at Home Depot, just don't expect Home Depot to be of any help if they deliver a damaged or non-functional unit. Next time I will look for a reputable appliance dealer. August 7, 2016

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Disappointing Racks are too light, silverware Holder very different than previous model and it is practically impossible to read the controls on the black door August 17, 2016

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Amazingly quiet! We've had it up and running for two months. We love how it cleans our dishes. It is SO quiet that we hardly notice that it is running. There is plenty of room for the dishes we normally use. August 2, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Just what I wanted Excellent dishwasher. It's so quiet I had to really listen to here it on. Love KitchenAid products. Beautiful inside with stainless steel tub. June 15, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great Purchase Just like most of the reviews...it's very quiet. We're very happy with it's layout, it hold more than our previous one. Looks nice and has more features than we'll ever use. I've owned the low end dishwashers and now I know the difference. Purchase this, you won't regret it. June 14, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by door will not seal properly. This is worth reading. My last kitchen aid dishwasher was almost thirty years old. I had to replace it because parts were no longer available. Because of it's longevity and the brand's reputation, I decided to purchase another Kitchen Aid dishwasher. I reviewed consumer reports and went online to many sites, including Home Depot, to read reviews. I always prewash dishes before putting them in the dishwasher, and I only put in dishes, drinking glasses and utensils. The dishwasher is run about three times a week. I was not looking for a lot of "bells and whistles". The purchasing experience at Home Depot was a breeze. This happened to be on sale, and I purchased the extended warranty (it offset the sale price). The first problem was the delivery and installation. The first dishwasher was broken before it even got in my house. I waited a week, the next dishwasher came in a painted white truck with a piece of a cardboard box taped to the drivers door with a name written in magic marker that I could not read. Those guys placed the dishwasher on my living room floor and then went to leave without removing the old dishwasher and installing the new one, which is what I paid for. They said I would have to make another appointment. I made them take the dishwasher back(I don't have room for a dishwasher to sit in my living room and it's not very good company) and eventually ,a week later, the new dishwasher came and was installed. The good things: this dishwasher is so quiet, I had to keep putting my ear next to it to make sure it was running. I could fit a lot more dishes in it, including bigger "fancy" dinner plates(no more hand washing!), and lastly, everything comes out clean and dry. The third time I used the dishwasher, steam and water leaked out all over the floor, causing the cork that is underneath my granite countertops to disintegrate. I called Kitchen Aid (aka Whirlpool). An appliance guy came out, couldn't find the problem, everything was working well. The dishwasher worked well for the next four weeks(one week I was on vacation). After the four week honeymoon, a new problem of the door not latching properly, and thus the dishwasher not running, occurred. Again, the same repair man came out. Today was the repairman man's fourth visit in four weeks for the same problem, door not latching properly and the dishwasher not running, or the door partially latching and the dishwasher runs resulting in steam and lots of water on the floor, including further deterioration of the cork under the granite counter and the wood under the dishwasher getting soaked. The shelves have been re-angled to stop them from hitting the door, the washer has been run on it's hottest cycle to try and mold the sealant, the door latch has been replaced and now ,I wait another week for new door hinges to try and fix this persistent problem. Each time, I speak to someone at Kitchen Aid customer service. I have used this dishwasher less than a dozen times in the last three months and have had the repairman here five times with another visit scheduled in a week. When I asked the Kitchen Aid representative about replacing this dishwasher, she replied "there are no set number of repair appointments. Repairmen will keep coming until nothing can be done". I am assuming that this means until the one year warranty is up and then I am responsible for the bills. I am SO disappointed. Please keep in mind that I need to take a day off from work with each repair visit(next week will be visit number six in less than three months). I'm not sure what recourse I have other than posting a negative review which is a first for me. June 16, 2016
