Where is the plug located? On the back? On the side?

Asked by: Denise
The plug comes out of a box the bottom front (behind a removeable panel on the bottom) and it is pointed back. You can route it out through the back or the side of the washer as needed.

Yes, it's very quiet, it looks great, but its performance, what really matters, was subpar. Until I did two things - one, changed from gel detergent to pacs (which is highly recommended in the instruction manual) and second, let the water at the sink run as hot as it gets before starting the cycle, as recommended by a service person. After that, the performance of this thing has been top-notch. It's unfortunate that we need to waste extra water to wash the dishes, but it's the unintended consequence of the low energy consumption dishwashers. We save energy, but waste water. Make sure you do those two things and you will be pleased.

I have owned 3 kitchenaid dishwashers and they have all been great. Washed very well, lasted a long time, solidly built. I am calling service for the second time since buying the machine 6 months ago. The machine is not draining and previously was leaving soapy deposits on the gasket. Dishes never are washed well and I typically need to wash several by hand after a cycle. I have taken to pre washing and cleaning dishes before putting them in the machine. Whats the point of a dishwasher if you need to clean the dishes before you clean them in the machine. Never had to do this with prior models except for very dirty dishes. Junk.

Now unit will not wash after just 6 months of every other day use. Service company diagnosed issue to be control board. Board had to be special ordered from KitchenAid (1 week). Replaced board and unit still not working with a new diagnosis of a bad motor so now have to wait even longer for a return repair (1 week). Service tech could not even figure out how to get dishwasher out from under counter. Have to deal with multiple weeks of no dishwasher that we paid hundreds of dollars for. And when you contact KitchenAid service all you get is apologies with no real resolution to issue. Pros - runs very quietly (when it works)

It was functional for about a year -- good for the money but not a great job of cleaning dishes. Also very long run time -- more than stated. After a year it began to intermittently leak! It leaks out the left front bottom and out the top under the counter. It has caused extensive damage to our flooring way beyond the value of the dishwasher. We also have damage to the undersides of the countertop. Needless to say this was a total waste of money. It led me to some extensive research on brands including asking Home Depot's carrier for extended warranties to see what brands get the least claims and they emphatically said "Bosch". I bought this to replace a 20yr-old Kitchenaid dishwasher and love the look. The only downside is with the controls; there's a specific sequence you need to go through to start it and when you have it set to run on delay, if you open the door to add dishes, you need to remember to hit start again after closing the door (this is different from my previous washer). I found out about this after reading the instructions, but my kids didn't so it's been a few times that I've woken up in the morning to find out it didn't run. Other than this, it's a great dishwasher and I don't hesitate to recommend it.

The dishwasher has all the features I need and is nice and quiet. The rack setup is good. I can fill the dishwasher pretty efficiently although I'm still working out the bet layout. The silverware tray is nice, the slots for individual pieces actually works quite well. The Pro-Wash cycle (auto soil sense) seems to work qukite well. Kudos to both Home Depot and Kitchenaid (Maytag) for standing behind their product. Somehow, the door of the dishwasher was damaged in transit and I didn't see it until after the dishwasher was installed (self-installed). There's a protective plastic bag over the door that I didn't remove until the last stage of installation so didn't see the dent until then. Kitchenaid agreed to order the new front panel and have it installed, no problem. While happy with Home Depot's response as well, in the end, it would have been quicker to have contacted Kitchenaid directly and not involve HD at all.

Very easy to install (at least it was for me), runs super quiet and cleans the dishes extremely well. Our old Kitchenaid was 25+ years old and although it still ran, it was getting "tired" and not cleaning well. This new machine cleans dishes unbelievably well. Pros: 1) Easy installation 2) Energy efficient 3) Super quiet 4) Made in America! 5) Looks great! Love the black finish. Matches our other black Kitchenaid appliances well. Cons: 1) Wish it had a display to indicate the amount of time remaining in the cycle 2) Wish it had a display to indicate where it was in the cycle -- to allow you to determine if it's too late to add a dish 3) Cycles are longgggg; because of this, we most always use the Express Wash cycle 4) Machine is made mostly out of plastic (motor, etc). Just hope it lasts a long time .... although I'm not expecting 25 years like the prior workhorse

I replaced my 25 year old, porcelain coated tub, KitchenAid dishwasher with this new stainless steel tub model, because it was time to upgrade my kitchen. The old one still worked fine, but it was dated looking. I looked at all the brands and I only considered the ones that had the ball bearing rollers on the top shelf (KItchenAid being one of them). I really liked the smoothness of how the top basket rolled out. I also wanted the front controls and no protruding handle, and again, KitchenAid offered both those features. I also liked the 60 minute express wash cycle option, as I didn't want to be required to use the 2 hour cycle all the time. The express cycle uses 6.2 gallons of water which is fine with me. Each cycle choice and soil level uses a different amount of water, 2.8, 3.8, 4.0, 4.2, 5.0, 6.2, 7.2 and 7.7 gallons. We always rinse/soak our dishes prior to putting them in the dishwasher, so there is no excuse for any dishes to come out dirty, which they don't. The heated dry works great, which is aided by having a metal tub vs. the cheaper plastic tub. I installed the dishwasher myself, since I had to update the electric to a GFI protected 3 prong plug and the water line to a 3/8th inch connection fitting. That was the most work, installing the dishwasher was easy. Although, the electric wire supplied by Home Depot had very short leads (maybe 1-1/4 inch) that need to be connected to the dishwasher wires. Just a little tough to hold and twist the wire nuts on such a short lead, but not too bad. The ground wire was also short and it needed to be wrapped around a grounded hex head screw on the frame. Now, the wire was made of many copper strands and the shoulder of the screw was skimpy and I did not like how the connection might perform. What should have been provided as a wire end, was a crimped on flat "U" shaped or eye hole connector for the screw to clamp down on. Doing so on a braided wire would allow some strands to push out from underneath the screw head. I elected to crimp on a connector and solder it for good measure. The wire was not supplied by KitchenAid, so this is not a knock against them. Also, there most likely will be variations in wire manufacturers and others may not have to deal with this modification. My wire was $9.99 and I did not get to see it before it arrived with the dishwasher. I must also say that my 25 year old dishwasher was heavier and seemingly built sturdier that the new one. The old motor was larger and had a steel housing and the new one has a plastic housing. But, that is probably the new standard and adequate for it's life expectancy. So, I would not splurge on unnecessary features and over pay for any appliance, this one met my needs at a reasonable price; it was on sale for $599, regularly $799. I have had it for 2 weeks and I do like it, it does an excellent job and is super quiet. I have no regrets so far. We got the stainless exterior because it matches our stove and refrigerator. The stainless is a pain to clean, but if you wipe it down with mineral oil after a cleaning, any streaks or splotches disappear and stay fingerprint free for weeks. The photo below is after the mineral oil was applied.
