About the blue goo-----what has kitchenaid done to correct this problem?

About the blue goo-----what has kitchenaid done to correct this problem? All I see from you is that you will get back to the people but you have NOT posted what your company has done about this-----until I get a answer I would not buy this for my mixer
Asked by: Craig1976
Funny that the "Kitchenaid Team" states here that the attachment has been redesigned to correct the problem. In my own product research, I have found repeatedly that there are issues with the blue liquid leaking. So I emailed KitchenAid this weekend and told them I had seen hundreds of reviews reporting this issue and I questioned whether it was being addressed or redesigned... I didn't want to buy a faulty product. This is the response I received today (2/8/16): "Dear Ms. H****, Thank you for contacting KitchenAid and allowing me the opportunity to respond to your inquiry. KitchenAid's Ice Cream Maker Attachment does not have any known issues. I would advise that the warranty is for one year, there have been no changes to the design, and that there have been no consistent issues that would warrant a change. If I may be of further assistance to you, please feel free to respond to this email or you may reach us by calling 1-800-541-6390, Monday through Friday, 8 am until 8 pm, EST. Thank you for owning KitchenAid. Sincerely, Emily KitchenAid e-Solutions Specialist" Interesting... Who do you believe? And if it has been redesigned, was there a recall on the old ones? How would you know if you are purchasing an old one or a new one? I really, really want this attachment but I'm not risking purchasing an expensive faulty product, especially when the responses are contradictory.

Customer Reviews

Ice Cream Maker Attachment for KitchenAid Stand Mixers is rated 2.6 out of 5 by 298.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from Poor technical design I love my KitchenAid and I am satisfied with the other attachments I have, but I would give ZERO stars to the ice-cream attachment. Mine has been bought one year ago, and has been used maybe ten times. During the ice-cream making phase, there is heat dispersion in all directions, because the plastic cover won't fit and there's no insulation anywhere. As a result, the ice-cream is not properly churned, and it has to be put into the freezer only half-done and then it turns out all ice. This is all the more evident if you use another recipe for ice cream, not the ones given with the attachment. Very poor technical design. I'm buying a dedicated ice-cream maker.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Would not recommend I used it 3 times, and on the third time, when I opened the freezer, I saw this blue liquid, and I do not have any blue Popsicle in the freezer. I take very good care of all my kitchen wear, and turns out, the liquid inside the icecream maker was leaking from a crevice on the icecream maker (see pictures). It is very disappointing for such an expensive attachment.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Don't waste your money on this Ice Cream Attachment Should have listened to the reviews, really please do. If your bowl doesn't leak after a few freezes the plastic adapter will torque and it will not spin. I believe this is an after thought add-on product that the engineers at Kitchenaid rushed to put together. Its JUNK. Buy a nice stand alone ice cream maker and you will be a happier person for it. Also don't expect any customer service on this, read the warranty info, you will be surprised!!

Rated 2 out of 5 by from disappointed I've used this ice cream maker a handful of times and the plastic piece that makes it spin never really worked correctly, and I went to use it recently and it broke trying to spin. Not sure why you would make something like that plastic. I love kitchen aid and for the price this sucks..Totally disappointed with this product.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Seems defective I received my ice cream maker as a gift in 2013 and have only use it a handful of times each year. I keep it stored in bag in my kitchen cupboard and put it in the freezer a few days before I want to use it. When I took it out recently I noticed a blue liquid all over the bag. It didn't dawn on me until I cleaned it up and realized that it was oozing out of the bowl . What a disappointment. This is clearly the liquid that freezes and who knows how much is left in the bowl. Something is defective with the design because based on reviews I am not the only one this is happening to.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Ice cream maker doesn't fit Pro-line models I'd promised everyone a special dessert for Mother's Day. When I tried to attach my KitchenAid Ice Cream Maker to my new KitchenAid "Professional 6000 HD" mixer, I discovered it doesn't fit! Also the Franzese Gelato Mix, branded and advertised for use with KitchenAid mixers, does not make two batches as the box states. The Ice Cream Mixer is designed for a 5 cup recipe and the gelato mix with BOTH batch bags is only designed to use 3.5 cups... KitchenAid YOU OWE ME A REFUND!

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Doesn't fit older mixer One of the big selking features of kitcheaid was that all the attachments are supposed to fit all the mixers. I have my mothers mixer model K45SS it was a big purchase for her when she bought it. This will not fit the model I have . It is disappointing that they can no longer claim that all the attachments fit all the mixers considering how expensive the mixers are and that was a big selling/ purchading point at one time

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Very unhappy Getting ready to start the summer by making some ice cream so we put our bowl into the freezer. The next morning there was blue liquid on the bottom of the freezer. Seems like there is now a small crack in the bowl. I take very good care of my attachments and am very surprised that this has happened. Especially when I paid so much money for this attachment. I would not recommend this attachment.
