About the blue goo-----what has kitchenaid done to correct this problem?

About the blue goo-----what has kitchenaid done to correct this problem? All I see from you is that you will get back to the people but you have NOT posted what your company has done about this-----until I get a answer I would not buy this for my mixer
Asked by: Craig1976
Funny that the "Kitchenaid Team" states here that the attachment has been redesigned to correct the problem. In my own product research, I have found repeatedly that there are issues with the blue liquid leaking. So I emailed KitchenAid this weekend and told them I had seen hundreds of reviews reporting this issue and I questioned whether it was being addressed or redesigned... I didn't want to buy a faulty product. This is the response I received today (2/8/16): "Dear Ms. H****, Thank you for contacting KitchenAid and allowing me the opportunity to respond to your inquiry. KitchenAid's Ice Cream Maker Attachment does not have any known issues. I would advise that the warranty is for one year, there have been no changes to the design, and that there have been no consistent issues that would warrant a change. If I may be of further assistance to you, please feel free to respond to this email or you may reach us by calling 1-800-541-6390, Monday through Friday, 8 am until 8 pm, EST. Thank you for owning KitchenAid. Sincerely, Emily KitchenAid e-Solutions Specialist" Interesting... Who do you believe? And if it has been redesigned, was there a recall on the old ones? How would you know if you are purchasing an old one or a new one? I really, really want this attachment but I'm not risking purchasing an expensive faulty product, especially when the responses are contradictory.

Ice Cream Maker Attachment for KitchenAid Stand Mixers is rated 2.6 out of 5 by 271.
Rated 2 out of 5 by from Fine until it breaks Not much to say. It was fun making ice cream at home until the day I opened my freezer and found blue liquid all over the place. It took me a while to figure out that it had leaked out of this ice cream attachment. I only hope it isn't too toxic.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Bad design We worked a great deal of the evening trying to get this to work. There is no way that there can be enough tension on the beater to keep this mixing, especially when the mix begins to freeze. It just starts skipping and stripping the plastic which are great little things to have in your mix. Very disappointing for a brand with such a good reputation.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Leaks blue liquid after a while I bought this about 3 years ago and only use it a few times a year. It seemed to work fine, but then it started leaking blue liquid, which is now all over my freezer. I typically love the KitchenAid brand and am genuinely surprised by this level of quality, especially at this price point.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not compatible! I received this item as a gift from my daughter and was so excited! That is until I went to assemble it and found that it was not compatible with my Professional 6000 HD mixer. The drive assembly will not fit onto the head of the mixer because the head of my mixer is more of a square shape and not round like the assembly and other models of mixers. I then looked to see what models the ice cream maker was compatible with and the only thing I could find is that it is not compatible with the mini stand mixer, no mention of any other models. Again, I'm very disappointed because I've come to think of KitchenAid as a high quality brand and have never had a problem with any other attachments, but this time they disappoint.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Ice Cream Maker Leaked Blue Liquid after only three uses I love my Kitchen Aid mixer and use it often, however this particular attachment did not last. It was gifted a few years back so is out of warranty, but was only used 3 times and leaked blue liquid all over the freezer and onto anything it touched. Sadly it had to be thrown away.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from great until blue liquid wrecked my cupboard I loved the ease of this ice cream maker. Followed instructions and I was actually able to make 2 batches at a time of my mother's sherbet. I stored it in my lazy susan when not prepping to use it. It spontaneously started leaking a fairly large amount of blue liquid all over my new cupboards. It continues to do so, I wasn't sure if it was still functional but I have been afraid to use it because I don't want a sloppy mess of cream.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Ice cream maker Made taste ice cream, but all the blue freezing coolant leaked all over the bottom of my freezer. After that the ice cream never was right. There was a small hole in the side.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from So disappointed I have had this component for 1 year. I've made 6 batches of ice cream and each time I feel like I'm on borrowed time. The plastic components finally showed their true colors. Made a batch where the mix was a little thicker and...skip, skip, strip...no traction on the parts. Now what am I supposed to do? My freezer bowl hasn't started leaking and now I can't use it. Not sure what I can do but could have predicted this. The instructions that came with it don't even describe the parts I have.
