Customer Reviews

One-Piece Pouring Shield-DISCONTINUED is rated 1.4 out of 5 by 107.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from Does not fit Bought the Orange mixer because that's the one my wife has wanted for years now and I finally was able to save up enough money to buy it for her. She was so excited about it when it arrived, and it came with this pouring shield but couldn't figure out how to attach it to the bowl. After further inspection I found out that this shield does not fit the bowl at all, hopefully if you purchase the shield separately it might fit, but in my opinion you should just save your money. Other than this issue the mixer has made my wife very happy.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Terrible Fit I love my mixer, but the pour shield is TERRIBLE! I've had 2 replacements sent to me-all of which DO NOT stay on or work. It falls off when mixer is running (or not running) causing flour and other ingredients to fly all over the place. I hope that with all of these low reviews that the company would look into redesigning this pour shield soon and send all registered customers with a new one. I would give this pour shield less that one star if I could so only giving it one because I have to. I had a Kitchenaid mixer for 35 years prior to replacing with this new one-that pour shield was EXCELLENT!! Make it like that again.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Doesn't guard any splatter I have tried this splatter guard several times and it just doesn't work! Low speed on this mixer isn't low enough, and it causes the dry ingredients to poof everywhere. Well this reduces it a "little bit", but the flour gets between this shield and the bowl. Kitchenaid: WE ARE BEGGING YOU TO MAKE ONE THAT SEALS TO THE BOWL! Have your Developers base the design off the bowl lids. I would seriously give this zero stars if I could.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Pouring shield Used my new Kitchen Aid with the shield for the first time. Does not fit around the entire bowl, fits loose, and had flour fly out through the spout & opening. I don't have this problem when I don't use the shield! ,

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Needs Major Re-design After reading the one star reviews on this pouring shield, I contacted KitchenAid customer service expressing desire to purchase a pouring shield but I had reservations due to the poor reviews. I was told and I quote, "I would like to reassure you if there were any issues with out products that were out of the 'norm' our engineering team would be addressing the issue." The representative also said, "Many of the reviews do not indicated how the pouring shield was stored, or if it was dropped accidentally." Perhaps the key phrase here is "out of the norm." This shield slides around the rim of the metal bowl and does not fit tightly. I had the speed setting on #3 while placing flour in a cookie batter so it was at a slow speed. I used a heaping tablespoon of flour when placing it in the batter and it not only threw flour out of the pouring shield opening but also threw it between the top of the bowl and the bottom of the pouring shield. I used a tablespoon so I could place small amounts of flour (five cups total) hoping it would mix in before I placed another tablespoon of flour. Perhaps KitchenAid engineers don't consider throwing flour all over the kitchen counter 'out of the norm." I would not waste your money on this pouring shield.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Very Disapointing Accessory I was so excited to move up from my 25 year old 4.5qt Kitchen Aid mixer to my new 6qt, beautiful red! It's the day before Thanksgiving and I'm using it for the first time. Probably my first mistake. It's a bit clumsy to use, but I'm sure that I can overcome. My problem is with the pouring shield! IT DOES NOT WORK! It has little tabs that seem like they should snap on to the rim but it does not stay in place. The shield pops right off and falls off the bowl. I chatted live on the KitchenAid website, only to be told it's not intended to snap on the rim. It just sits there. Well it does not just sit there, it falls off. It's a piece of junk. So disappointed. :(

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Poor quality and worse design Like many of my fellow reviewers, I came to this site to look for instructions on how to attach the pouring shield for my daughter's new 5-quart Artisan. As I began to read the reviews, I quickly realized that the problem was not her inability to attach the shield but the shield itself. It astounds me that a supposedly high-quality appliance would have such an obviously cheap and poorly designed accessory. This mixer was a Christmas gift for my daughter. She couldn't wait to use it; and five minutes after setting it up, she realized the shield is junk. I hope this is not an omen.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Unusable product I recently purchased my first Kitchenaid stand mixer--an Artisan model. The fit and finish of the mixer and the various attachments is pretty good--with the exception of this pouring shield. The design does not fit the mixing bowl that well, and does not secure itself to the bowl in any way. The poor design combined with the off-center weight distribution means it half falls into the bowl if you look at it wrong. Thankfully I discovered this before ever trying to use it with the mixer running. I thought maybe the wrong size was included, but no--after reading the reviews here it's clear that it is simply a poorly designed product. If you do not have this pouring shield yet, please save your money and DO NOT buy it.
