Customer Reviews

Rotor Slicer and Shredder Attachment for KitchenAid Stand Mixers is rated 2.0 out of 5 by 151.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from Nothing but trouble My sister has had one of these for many years and has always had good comments about it so I got one a few years ago. The first time I used it, it was hard to get the shredder blade attached, and when I was done, I couldn't get it off. So this sat in the back of my pantry shelf ever since. I noticed it last week and decided to try again. I had to use pliers to get the shredder blade off and to attach a slicer blade. It was difficult to get it attached to the mixer, and to remove it when I was done. I have not been able to get the slicer blade off now. During the time this sat in the pantry, the plastic cracked where it attaches to the mixer.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Terrible do not buy. Older one was great replacement is not I loved my previous one bought 6+ years ago and it served me well for many years but finally the plastic broke where it attaches to the mixer. I figured 6 or so years was a good run with something I used weekly so I ordered a new one and waited. Got new one and got rid of old one including the slicing cones. Boy was that a mistake the new cones felt lighter and they are so much duller then the old ones you need a lot of force to slice even soft things like sweet potatoes. At first I thought it was just my imagination but after reading other reviews on here I see I'm not the only one. If you buy this because your plastic housing broke DO NOT GET RID of your old cones the new ones are so much more dull then 6 year old ones and you will regret not having them.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Replaced my old salad shooter I bought this to replace my old salad shooter. I have only used it a handful of times and noticed that the unit cracked under pressure where it attaches to the machine. I no longer have the original packaging or know what the warranty is but I believe, for the price, it should have lasted a lot longer than the times I've used it

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Disappointed I wish I had looked here before I purchased. Like so many others, the plastic housing for the cones cracked after only a few uses. I have never had a bad experience with a Kitchenaid product, so it didn't occur to me that I would need to save my receipt. I hope the design is updated for better results in the future!

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Frustrated I love the concept of this attachment. Shredding cheese and potatoes with ease. I have had a couple of problems with the attachment. The second time I used it, the plastic housing was shredded into my cheese (see picture). I have also always had a hard time taking the attachment apart (removing the blade from the arm). I have also attached a pictureof this. Now the blade is not coming off! I have injured my knuckles by grating them on the blades while trying to disassemble the attachment. The machine was turned off and unplugged when I did this. The injured knuckles was from my hands slipping and catching the blades. I guess I'm going to have to take the attachment to my hubbys shop just to get it apart, this time. Also, I have contacted customer service TWO times about the issue with the plastic shredding. I never received a response back! I have many Kitchen Aid appliances and gadgets. I have recently started buying a different brand, because I was so disappointed in the lack of customer service from KitchenAid.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from A concept that works! I have been looking high and low for a cheese grater that would do the work for me. While this was expensive, I liked the fact it wasn't going to take up a lot of space and would keep me from having to buy a food processor just to grate cheese. I loved the way that it grated my cheese...quick and easy, just as I hoped. However, when I tried to grate some (mini) carrots to go with my salad, the pieces got stuck in the housing....and I heard a disturbing 'crack.' Yes. Those pesky carrots cracked the housing. However, when I contacted customer service, I felt listened to and they backed their product. For this, it went from a 2 star to a 4 star review. However....you might want to avoid mini carrots and stick with cheese....

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Go back in time.........PLEASE!!!! My family has had A kitchenaid k5a since I was 10 yrs old--57 years ago. The rotor slicer then (as all the attachments) was just metal, no fancy wear-off/chip off white covering. I have had my own mixer for over 40 years now and about 8 years ago my family bought me the rotor slicer because I had spoken so highly of the ones I had growing up. This one is garbage! It has no slice size that works--FOR ANYTHING!!! I bake a LOT at Christmas and used my old one to chop walnuts-they came out perfectly! This one only minces them, or, even worse, turns them into powder. Also, it needs to be taken apart with vice pliers!!! Go back to the old design! PLEASE!!!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Poor Design - Can't get blade off spindle after one use Got this as a gift. Did not use it for a long time however when I did the first time the slicer cone would not come off the post so I've been unable to use the other attachments! The one slicer works great but I would love to use the shredder at some point but can't until I pry off the slicer from the post. I have hunted for a replacement post to buy to use with the other cones but can't find one. I see others here have had same problem. Since it has been well over a year since I got this - packaging long gone - I can't return it. Don't buy this.
