Product Overview

Klean-Strip Green Safer Paint Thinner is a revolutionary formula with a milky-white color and can be used to thin any color of oil-based paint, stain, and varnish without affecting the color of the dried paint. Its low odor makes it great for indoor use, and it’s non-flammable and less harsh on the skin than regular paint thinner. It's effective at removing grease and dirt from metal, plastic, wood and painted surfaces so paint will adhere. It will also clean paint from nylon brushes, pans, buckets, rollers, stirring tools, foam applicators and spray equipment.

  • Non-toxic formula
  • Non-combustible
  • More gentle on skin than standard paint thinner
  • Low-VOC formula
  • No hazardous air pollutants
  • No ozone-depleting chemicals
  • Not for sale in California

Answer:
No, this product has water in it. Get the regular Klean Strip Odorless Mineral Spirits or Paint Thinner instead. They don't have water in them.

Customer Reviews

Rated 2.5 out of 5 by 32 reviewers.
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by I am not sure what to make of this product. I don't think it is as good in most ways as the usual mineral spirits. It seems to have some additional milky additive. That apparently reduces the odor. It also seems to reduce it's ability to clean. It might be a good product to thin oil base paints, but I am leery about risking a job using something like this that has unknown qualities. I normally use clear oil base finishes, on my products. I don't know what the milkiness of this stuff would do to them. July 5, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Mtnlady Does not mix with oil products......seems to be water based. Not sure about the purpose for creating this product....except that it is "green"--- low order and not flamable....but that applies to water also. We purchased anew oil based product to cut with thinner. Had to dump the first batch because it did not mix. We returned it and purchased regular paint thinner. August 17, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Sorry product. Not strong enough to do what it's supposed to do. Cannot do anything with it. March 1, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by very mediocer paint thinner is paint thinner. It does the job that's all. February 22, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Not a usable product. This product contains very small granules which are not soluable. I used it to finish a fly rod and it left bumps all over the varnished surface . Another rod maker I know had the same problem so it's in the product rather than the finishing materials or methods. The liquid itself is a milky, greasy product so it really isn't useful for cleanup either. In short, it's junk. Don't waste your money. January 15, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Junk Milky white slime. Bought by accident. Never again. October 25, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Excellent Product I find this product works far superior to regular paint thinner for cleaning brushes used for applying polyurethane. March 11, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Nice alternative to the old stuff. I try to be environmentally conscious whenever I can be. February 3, 2015
