Will this product damage factory paint on my Corvette?

Sometime, somewhere my car was covered with over spray. Would this be suitable for taking that spray paint off? I don't know how long its been on the car. Thanks, Hoppy
Asked by: Hoppy
I have no idea, but I'd guess if you wiped it off quickly and did not rub too hard, you could use it to get tar or some other paint (as if someone scraped your fender) off. I'd test a small place first.

can it be usful as a coolant for germanium turning?

respected sir, we are using your diamond turning machine, we are machining optical germanium for that purpose number of people suggest us odorless mineral spirit as coolant. please suggest me, which odorless mineral spirit is suitable for turning of optical grade germanium? please give details. just now we are using houghton cleansol a as a coolant waiting for reply thanking you prasad pawase
Asked by: prasad
I know nothing about diamond turning, but I do not recommend this product unless you are ultra-concerned with being "green". If your application calls for "odorless mineral spirits", do not use this product. Instead, get the regular odorless MS in the can....not this plastic container. See my other review.

1 qt. Green Odorless Mineral Spirits is rated 3.4 out of 5 by 133.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Keep using brushes I bought this to clean expensive brushes for polyurethane furniture and kitchen cabinets. After finishing the polyurethane of a wood item I would poor the mineral spirits into an empty tin coffee container. Swish around for about 5 minutes. This removes all the polyurethane from the brush. Thus you can reuse the brush.

I used this product to clean my putty knife and trowel of flooring adhesive. It worked just fine but to call this product odorless would be an exaggeration. Smells just like any other mineral spirits.

I purchased this product to help in removing some stain with poly from a natural hair paintbrush (and from my hands) after staining a desk I built. I only had to use a very small amount (less than a cup) to not only remove the stain from my hands and the brush, but then cleaned the brush with the same amount for three additional applications! There really is no smell at all, and the strength of the product doesn't deteriorate after pretty heavy use. This may be a slightly higher cost option for removing stain and cleaning brushes, but it is well worth the investment when you consider the cost of brushes and having really sticky hands.

I followed all directions and even let it sit and soak longer than noted, but all of the paint is still where it had been spilled. :( I just haven't had the time to drive all the way back to home depot to return the product.

I first noticed that this was white - not clear like the other product I had used. In use, it was not terribly effective so I wanted to know what the difference was between the clear and this white product. What I found is that pure mineral spirits is clear. It becomes white when diluted. Then I saw the SDS sheet which shows that this is a diluted mixture of only 15% - 40% Hydrotreated light distillate. The other Odorless Mineral Spirits from Klean-Strip is 100% (and clear). Could the "65% renewable content" mentioned on the label be "water"?

We have a new engineered wood floor and have adhesive backed felt pads on all furniture legs.. When these pads release from the furniture legs they spread the adhesive onto the floor, it took a lot scrubbing to remove the the glue from the floor. I call the manufacturer of the flooring and they said that this product would remove the residue without harming the finish on the floor. Well, it works great. Would highly recommend this product for anyone in the same situation.

This "green" odorless mineral spirits has been mixed with water to make it more "green". It therefore has a milky white color to it. It is NOT clear, like all other forms of mineral spirits. Unfortunately, I did not know this when I purchased it. I have researched this on the internet and it apparently works fine for cleaning applications, however it might impart a milky color or consistency to varnish or other thinning applications. I bought it to use in making Ed's Red solvent. The milky color affected the look of the Ed's Red and caused a separation of the ingredients. I now have a bottle of "Ed's Pink" that I am wary to use on my guns. I ended up taking the remainder back to Home Depot and purchasing the can of "regular" odorless mineral spirits, which is clear like water. So....if you are into the "green" thing, go for it. But only if you don't mind your Ed's Red being Ed's Pink. YMMV.

It does this job and is also good at cleanly removing labels and price tags. The odorless property is a big plus for me due to my sensitive nose. While the quart size is more than enough for my current painting/crafting needs, next time I'll opt for the gallon because it's a far better value.
