Product Overview

Klean-Strip Green Safer Paint Thinner is a revolutionary formula with a milky-white color and can be used to thin any color of oil-based paint, stain, and varnish without affecting the color of the dried paint. Its low odor makes it great for indoor use, and it’s non-flammable and less harsh on the skin than regular paint thinner. It's effective at removing grease and dirt from metal, plastic, wood and painted surfaces so paint will adhere. It will also clean paint from nylon brushes, pans, buckets, rollers, stirring tools, foam applicators and spray equipment.

  • Non-toxic formula
  • Non-combustible
  • More gentle on skin than standard paint thinner
  • Low-VOC formula
  • No hazardous air pollutants
  • No ozone-depleting chemicals
  • Not for sale in California

Is Klean-Strip Green good for thinning varnish for boat finish? Will it dry smooth & clear?

Asked by: Anonymous
Have not used it on real "varnish" but it works very well with polyeurethane type penetrators-sealers-coloring agents.

Been using this product for years and it does various jobs very, very well! It will thin oil based paint, clean brushes that were used with oil based paint, etc. It should be shaken up a bit before you use it for like 5 seconds but even without the shake n bake, it works superbly. Best of all it does not have a strong odor like turpentine, nor does it leave a lingering smell on your hands, spills, cloth or paper towels. It stores with ease, have not seen it freeze over a Chicago winter in my shed under the porch and is ready to go quickly. The plastic container also prevents any rust from forming on the can or under the screw-on cap. Oh, don't be surprised by its milky color if you are accustomed to clear liquids like turpentine or other mineral spirits. In the photo I was cleaning brushes used with brown oil based paint - let the brushes soak for a minute or two, scrape off excess milky paint thinner by running brushes on edge of plastic container, towel dry, store brushes flat in a plastic sandwich baggie, ready to go for next time.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great New Product - BioHazard Free! This product was the ONLY product we tried that would take off a layer of goo that was left by laying a carpet runner with a type of plastic tape over laminate flooring. We tried goo gone, (or goof off) and while it worked, it didn't work without a whole lot of elbow grease! This product dissolved the goo, allowed us to scrape it up with a metal putty knife, and above all, no smelly toxic fumes or toxicity at all.

Ruined a Purdy oil paint brush..it spread the bristles apart.making it useless..do not use this to clean natural bristle brushes..I have over 40 years of painting experience..do not buy this product..it in know way shape or form..works like regular paint thinner like the label claims
