Restored a old table top. Poured about half the can onto the old top and 20 min later was sliding the thick old finish off with a putty knife.
No, a thin layer wont do it and no its not going to just wipe off with a napkin but this will work if you get a thick layer on the item you want stripped and you let it sit as instructed.
For people that want something so strong they dont have to use much or just dont want to wait 30 minutes, blame the epa because this product works just as well as the company says.

I have used this brand of stripper for decades. Don't blame the product manufacturer for poor performance. Years ago-this stuff would make paint "jump" off the surface. The Government - EPA has all manufacturers of chemicals "dumbing" there products down so the user doesn't irritate their skin or smell something bad-use your brain-wear gloves, a mask

I bought this product to strip the varnish and stain off of a rocking chair. After 4 applications of this stripper I was still left with some varnish that required sanding. A very weak stripper and would not recommend. Trust the other reviews this product is not an effective stripper.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by hvee Didn't work for MY project
Our house was built in 1953 and the wood trim in our bathroom has accumulated quite a few layers of latex paint over the years. In an effort to spruce up the room, we bought this product to remove the paint and stain the wood. IT IS NOT STRONG ENOUGH TO PENETRATE MORE THAN 2 LAYERS OF PAINT!! I've gone through an enitre can on only 15' of trim. The product made the paint "gummy" which, according to the maufacturer, means you need to put alot more of the product on the surface. It's been 2 days and the paint is still not gone! Not the product's fault.....don't use for thick layers - product STINKS to boot, and whatever you do, DON'T GET IT ON YOUR SKIN.....IT REALLY BURNS!!!!

It comes with a silly squirt bottle, but the liquid is so thick, it has a hard time getting through the squirt tube, then ends up squirting all over the place. The stripper itself requires many steps to get through varnish. I am now going to look for another product and probably at another store. I thought all stripper would be the same, but I definitely got what I paid for.

tried to use this on front door to strip varnish and stain in order to refnish the door. So far have applied 3 coats and only 50% of the fnish is removed after lots of scraping and rubbing. This product is a complete waste of time.

Why home depot even sells this is beyond me. I had to apply the product very thick three different times just to get it to take the paint off "1" small cabinet door. Its to bad i cant give negative stars for the rating!
