Customer Questions & Answers

how do these compression crimpers work?

Instructions are not clear enough. Both F connector and cable move outwards when the handle is pressed.
Asked by: red
Insert the RG-6 end, after trimming, place the RG-6 inside, put it in the tool and squeeze away! That's all there is to it!

can this tool crimp RG-59 /RG-6 BNC connectors

i need it for the connector for security camers
Asked by: Armando
Yes, this tool can crimp BNC connectors. Be careful to not over-compress the crimper, only compress as far as is necessary to complete the crimp, not all the way down.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from don't waste your money The tool works fine for what it is. Spend the extra $10 and get the Omniseal Pro XL by a different tool maker. Not all connectors fit this tool well. No clamping system to keep cable in place, only a dial to best fit your cable diameter. The "other brand" is a true universal cable clamping and connector design with no settings except for compression depth. I made the mistake of throwing out the packing materials, now I am stuck with this.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Easy to use and well built Solid construction. This tool is well built and seats the RG6 and RG6QS connectors with authority. This tool works fine if you use the proper connector for the cable type you are trying to connectorize. A downside would be that you have to preset the tool to a particular brand of connector before using it. You will need to be precise to set the seated distance space. This is a minor inconvenience and not a problem if you a working with one type of connector for the duration. When using this tool, make sure you follow the connector manufacturer instructions for cable strip back specifications and type of cable to connector compatibility. Don't blame the tool for a botched connector to cable assemebly job. Klein tools; I have a few cutters and lineman pliers, some 20 years old and still on the job.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Good Product, Lousy Documentation One of the other reviewers stated that a novice probably should not be using this type tool. I am a novice at this but would not have had to do so much trial and error had the tool's documentation been at least half-way decent. I experimented with RG6 cable and initially with Ideal's 89-019 F connectors, which have the blue compression sections. These have a diameter too large to fit into the tool's "connector nest", but could be longitudinally forced into the nest when firmly held in place at the entrance to the nest and squeezing the tool's handle. I bought some of Ideal's 92-651 F connectors and they nested just fine. I eventually figured out how to set the tool's adjustment wheel to obtain the necessary compression distance (after giving up on the documentation) and the tool worked just fine. I have not yet tried the tool using RG59 cable and BNC connectors. So, I do agree with the non-novice reviewers that this is a very good tool. However, I knocked off a couple stars due to what I consider to be lousy documentation on its use. I tried to find a video on the use of this tool without success, but reviewing videos on other compression crimpers and connectors was helpful. I wish I had spent the extra bucks and purchased Ideal's Omni Pro XL which needs no adjustment when using their F and BNC connectors.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Works just fine... Yes, there are other brand crimpers out there that clamp your cable in place, but there is nothing wrong with these at all. I've used them with numerous different brands of compression connectors and they work fine on all of them once the depth of the plunger is set. I use them several times a week for RG59, RG6 and even RG11. Other bad user reviews are most likely due to user error. If you are a novice, you probably shouldn't be doing this work anyway.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great tool to have for RG6 cables I bought this compression tool for making RG6 cables and It worked great for me. Once set it made my job really easy for making perfect. It is very solid tool with rugged construction. I am happy with the quality of cables that I made with it. The hole in the plunger is big and allows you to use it for RCA cables. Nice tool to have
