Does it include the wire splicer and snake in the picture?

Does the package come with the cable splicer and a snake? I'm just wondering because its shown in the picture.

Can I clip one end of this tester to a circuit breaker and find the end of the wire through Sheetrock in another room?

Asked by: Rob
No this works on powered circuits only. You might try a tone generator. With that you add the power to the wire you want to find and then trace the area you want to locate the end of that circuit.

Let me start by saying this unit works great if you use it correctly and follow the directions. It would at best identify two breakers side by side as the target but I'm fine with that...it's better than having to test all 50 breakers to find the one you need! I agree with the reviews about the on-off switch being much too sensitive, but there is an easy fix! Take a small o-ring and insert it under the lip of the switch, this secures it from being turned on in the tool bag but still allows regular operation (see photo attached) This idea cures the problem and makes this unit worth the money.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Waste of money As other have stated both the function and design are flawed. The power button is poorly designed, it was constantly turning on in my tool bag. Functionally, it consistently failed to identify the correct breaker, would give no reading at all or alert to multiple breakers. When following the instructions you have to set the unit up to "learn the panel" but if you are trying to label a panel by yourself the unit will time out and turn off in the amount of time it takes you to move the transmitter and get back to the panel, meaning you have to re "learn" the panel each time. I returned mine and went back to the old fashion way of labeling panels, turn everything in the house on, turn off a breaker and go find what is off.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Poor design Power button is poorly designed. Dont even think about putting this in your tool bag/box with the batteries still in it. The thing turns on with the slightest feather touch. Very annoying! Wasn't sensitive enough to clearly identify a single breaker either.

Though it does work as intended, the on off button is too sensitive. While in my tool caddy it will power on, would be better with a toggle. I will be returning this item.

Easy to use (follow the instructions... especially about letting the tool learn the panel.) Nice loud tone and bright green arrow... Signal was strong enough for the 1800 Sq Ft House I was working on. The price is right. The reason I'm giving it 4 stars instead of 5 stars is the annoying on-switch function. The switch to turn it on is very touchy. You barely bump it on anything the unit powers up. (In your tool bag)... A hard case would be nice or an On-Switch that has more resistance or one that you must hold down for a full one or two seconds. It functions this way during the off-cycle to power down.. You must hold it down to have it turn off, but you can turn it on by barely touching the switch...

It is designed to work on very small runs (like a one story, one bedroom house) with modern copper wiring. If you work in a commercial building or in a building structure with aluminum wiring or long runs, you have to spend at least $100 for a circuit tracer that can trace the circuit. I recommend a Zircon circuit tracer model 68316. It works with three phase, aluminum runs and long runs. You get what you pay for.
