What is the largest gauge wire this will cut? I will use it to cut a welded wire fence. I don't know the gauge, but it is probably 12 or 14.

Welded wire fencing will destroy these wire cutters. They are designed for electrical wire, copper and aluminum specifically.

you can cut it but you don't want to it will after cutting steel wire fence the blades will dull, they are made to cut copper wire up to #8. you need kline SIDE CUTTERS

This tool is more for stripping wire. You should be using side cutters.

I've cut both, 12 and14 gauge wire. Works well. But if you're going to be cutting a lot I would recommend getting the Klein Tools Side Cutters.

Answer: 
I'm sure the jaws will open wide enough to cut the fence wire. The blade is intended for copper wire though. I would probably choose a different tool to cut the steel fencing wire as it may leave gouges in the blade.

Answer: 
Do not use these for steel wire, you will ruin them. These are for copper and aluminum only. For steel wire you will need compound action cutters with hardened blades. The cutters you want look like small bolt cutters.

10ga solid copper.12ga stranded. I would not use these on the steel fence though. There is a better than good chance you will break these wiring pliers.

This is my second pair of these stripper/cutter, I got 13 years out of the previous pair. I plan on many more years of service from this pair. These aren't flimsy and weak like so many other wire strippers I have used. They are the correct feel in your hand to get the job done. No problem cutting romex or any other wire I have put them through.

These wire stripper/cutters are tough, enough to cut 2 AWG! They are curved slightly to give you more leverage pulling off stubborn wire or cable shields. They are worth way more than their price!
