Product Overview

The MM6000 is a true RMS HVAC professional meter that provides more accurate readings for all signals. This multimeter was developed to withstand daily wear and tear on the job site. It is built to endure a ten foot drop and includes a raised rubber boot to protect the display from damage. The meter also has easy-to-access fuse and batteries.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Could be Better The Klein MM6000 DMM was a surprising disappointment. It did all the stated functions and in most cases with in specification, but there were quirks that do not occurr on other meters I use. If the meter was truly designed by Electricians it would definitely be capable of measuring 20 Amps. The AAA battery is speced to last 160 hours, but AA batteries would last 4X that time. I own a 35 year old Beckman Tech 310 that uses a small 9 Volt battery which lasts 4000 hours. On the diode test, the test voltage is only 1.8 volts, so it is not possible to test LEDs. Also on the ohm range, the test voltage is 0.65 volts which is too high. When measuring the value of an in-circuit resistor shunted by a diode, there is a different reading when changing the test lead polarity. On AC voltage measurements, when changing the range, the least significant digit is different by 3 volts, ex. 124.4V on the 200 Volt range, but 127 volts on the 2000 Volt range. And finally, on the 60nF capacitance range the meter will not measure capacitors less than 3nF, but according to the specificatiion it should be capable of measuring down to 0.01nF. For the display to be seen with good contrast, the meter must be at eye level or higher. The contrast washes out if holding the meter below eye level. My basic assessment is that there are better choices in this price range. So, very begrudgingly I decided to return the meter.
