Customer Questions & Answers

How do I install in the back of a pick up truck ?

Asked by: Joe
First, measure your available space in the bed of your truck. Second, look at the dimensions of said Knaack box that fits your needs. Simply put the box where you want it on the bed of your truck. Next, depending if you have a liner or not, you can take a sharpie and mark the holes upon which you'll be mounting it to the bed of your truck. If you have a liner, just take a knife and make some marks on where you're going to drill. Next, you need a good drill and drill away. Get some good bolts, nuts, and washers, and bolt that baby down. If you really want to make sure it doesn't go anywhere, you can always braze/weld it to the truck, but then it's there, until you un-weld it which may damage it.

JOBMASTER 42 in. x 19 in. x 23-3/8 in. Chest is rated 3.9 out of 5 by 10.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Several dings and dents from shipping. Not bad enough to refuse delivery and it still works fine,... Several dings and dents from shipping. Not bad enough to refuse delivery and it still works fine, but if you pay full price for a new one it should be 100% new. Other than that it's quite well made and I like it. Abloy 340 requires minor drilling of the lock holder to fit. 3/8 to 7/16.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Pride and Joy I have a KNAACK model 42 which I have had since I started as a Ironworker helper, since then its always kept my tools safe, dry, organized, plus my work wear. Its been through many seasons over the years but I've always kept it clean, was always asked if id get a new one but I'd say no because its my pride and joy, Because sure its old and wearing slowly but nothing comes close to its strength. I don't want to win a new toolbox, just to say that I have a KNAACK and its the best equipment I've ever owned.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from strong secure box Great box, secure and only needs one lock. Fits perfectly in the back of my new half ton truck. My only gripe is that it's expensive for the size, but home depot had the best price and free shipping.I bought a larger Knaack box in 1992 and it's still in the family.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Rough Shipping This is a great box, I have 2 of them and we use them at work as well. The only drawback to ordering online is your box will show up with a dent in it somewhere, other than that it's a great price with free shipping right to your doorstep.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Knacck toolbox. These are an excellent product and the camlock feature makes them easy to lock and secure. The product speaks for itself.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from HVAC Use It fits perfectly in the work van. I feel so confident with all my gear in it, that I laugh at the possibly of someone getting in it. It has a three point locking system. Which means, it has metal rod that slides thru three welded hole brackets mounted on the lid. The lock goes into the hole to where you can't access it without the key. The metal rod hits against the lock when you try to open it while it's locked. Now, of course this box is only as good as the lock you put on it, so I recommend on spending money on a real lock. I recommend an Abloy PL340/25 Protec2 High Security Padlock. I use this and it will work with this box. You can bolt it to the bed of your truck/van. I'm in the process of doing that today so my pictures don't reflect that work done. If I had one and only gripe it's that the lock is on the left side, when I wish it was on the right, because I have to climb over it to unlock it each time. It's really just a small inconvenience. The box is metal so I can put magnets on the top and store flashlights and tools on the backside of the lid. I'm on the lookout for magnetic strips so I can put other tools on the backside of the lid. I foresee the lid possibly coming down faster than it does now in the future, when closing it, due to constant opening/closing. It would definitely hurt if it landed on your fingers. There is a groove in the lid so long as I use that it won't be a problem. I searched for pictures all over the internet just to get a visual presentation, and there weren't any, so you're welcome!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from only if you HAVE to This is the only jobsite style box that will fit in my truck bed (ford ranger) so I didn't have much choice. 10 day lead-time, ships fed ex from factory (FED EX dropped this off down the street at a neighbor's property, luckily the neighbor called me and didn't just keep it for himself). THIN steel, the lid has a dent from it's own weight on the support (i.e. the steel isn't even thick enough to support itself) HORRIBLE paint that is flaking off (BARE METAL) when it arrives. scratched in a few places down to bare metal... I live by the ocean and this thing will be rusted in a couple weeks unless I sand it down and repaint it... ALMOST twice the cost of some 48x24x24 boxes (*which don't fit in my truck, of course) a couple of various other poor-manufacturing-type flaws... the handle in the top of the lid is riveted but installed at a slight angle (just annoying and speaks to the care that DOESN'T go into making these boxes), one of my warning stickers has their junky paint all over it (probably a touch up to try to make it look okay after assembly) one of the stickers on the outside of the box is angled... KNAACK just redesigned their lid, but I received the old style pictured here... PROBABLY A LEFTOVER, MAYBE EVEN A SECOND/FLAWED BOX...beyond scratches and flaking paint, the support for the lid is on the wrong side, OPPOSITE OF THE PICTURE SHOWN (LOCK on driver side, but lid support on passenger side, so you can't just reach in and close the lid, you have to walk around). OVERALL very disappointed, not sure if I'll even keep it, but if I were to exchange it, it would take another 10 days, and there's nothing to say it won't be the same.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Nice box, but it rusts too easily. Knaack needs to learn how to coat steel so it doesn't rust the first time it gets wet.
