How many watts does it use when actively cooling? - Does it have a thermostat that controls whether it is actively cooling or not actively cooling?

Most fridges are actively cooling some of the time, and in the remainder of the time they switch off the coolilng until the fridge needs cooling again. It depends on how hot the room is. I would like to know how many watts this mini fridge uses when actvely on (the motor is running). Thanks. Bruce Thomson in New Zealand.

0.14 cu. ft. Retro Fridge in Red is rated 4.1 out of 5 by 83.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Cute, functional little fridge, and food warmer We wanted to get several of these last year when we saw them at Home Depot, and were glad when they came around again this summer! The fridge holds a few beverages, accepts 110 or 12 Volt power, works as a fridge, or flip the switch, and it keeps food warm - making it a great companion in your minivan or SUV. The refrigeration mode does a great job, but it has a humming noise that's a little louder than you would expect for such a small appliance. Fine for a car, but if it's in a bedroom, think of it as white noise. We have 2 of them, and both make the same noise, so I conclude they all do. Not excessively loud, just noticeable.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Works as described. What do you expect for $30? Holds six 12 oz. cans and chills to about 41 degrees F. My fan is not that loud, but more like a dull hum. Looks great and is perfect for my office. I am going to buy another for my daughter.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Retro Fridge I saw this refrigerator sitting on my co-workers desk when I walked past her cubicle. I thought what a great idea. Since my desk is a good distance from the break room fridge and the break room is always crowded at lunch time, this small refrigerator is perfect for my cubicle and it saves me from having to rush to get my food to the communal refrigerator in the break room. I LOVE IT

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Works good, just noisy I bought this as it is rather cute. I brought it home and tested it. It keeps things inside cold just like a good refrigerator would. It also has a feature to keep food/drinks hot that I have not tested. If you prefer a very quiet atmosphere, the loud noise may annoy you. This small refrigerator was louder than our large kitchen refrigerator. It can hold six Coke cans perfectly. It also has a removable shelf.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from practical nostalgia Cute fridge that has car adapter to keep beverages cold in the car; also great for a shop or "man cave" to keep a few things cold. Rather small: could NOT hold a six pack or several cans. Only held two 20 oz plastic Coke bottles upright with upper shelf removed. It is a "real" mini fridge so motor does make some noise and there is some condensation underneath unit. The instructions said a switch could be flipped to keep things cold or hot and to switch power but none of those switches were on the unit I received. Only plug in for on and only to keep things cold (which was all I wanted anyway). Nice little surprise for my hubbie and great price for what you get.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from As advertised It does cool about as well as the description says. The fan is about as noisy as an average computer fan.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Very convienent. Nice to have firdge in my small office. This cooler is a great addition to my small office. It will hold 6 cans of pop with the upper shelf in place. However, i you put 16.9 ounce bottle of water in it you have to remove the shelf which limits it's storage to 4 cans OR bottles or any combination equaling 4. My only concern is that it is noisy. For what I paid, it was a great deal!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from It certainly does NOT operate silently as advertised, but it works. I like the product, but Home Depot is not accurate in the product description when they say it can "operate silently". It is louder than the hum of my computer, which itself is not particularly quiet. It's not so loud as to be disturbing to activities during the day. I can tolerate the noise across the room at night, but wouldn't want it under my nightstand 4 feet from my head while I was trying to sleep. Running it in a home with 70-75 degree F temps, it certainly cools my beverages to an acceptable drinking temperature.
