How does this hold up with the snow and ice in the colder regions?
Asked by: Taylor
The rain barrel can be left out in winter or extreme heat since it is manufactured from a rotationally molded process which involves baking the plastic material. It can withstand extreme temperatures from -40°C to + 40°C and will NOT chip, crack or fade and has UV protection.

Customer Reviews

55 Gal. Rain Barrel is rated 4.0 out of 5 by 11.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Nice looking rain barrel! We already had two rain barrels made from food-grade containers, but wanted 'prettier' looking rain barrels this time around since they're going to be more exposed to the back yard. There is a plug in the very bottom of one of the 'legs' which will allow us to completely drain the barrels at the end of the season for storage, plus an overflow drain at the top. We like this one so much we ordered another and now have a total of four! It really helps our raised bed garden to have a plentiful supply of water available. Having come from Florida where water restrictions were the norm, we were already conserving water from every source we could.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Suitable for areas where it would be visible Interesting looking, not an eyesore. Works in front of house where it could be visible from the street. Dark brown color blends in with mulch & foliage; doesn't look like the plastic it is, from a distance. Doesn't scream "rain barrel!". Brass spigot easy to screw into place, and high enough that risers under the barrel's feet aren't necessary. Only issue: was missing a cap for the drain plug. Contacted the manufacturer, faxed my sales receipt, and received the missing cap in a timely manner (purchased online, so this was not a Home Depot issue; couldn't go through the store to get this). Water authority rain barrel rebate makes the cost of this barrel minimal.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Well made and looks good--flowers are happy! The rain barrel sits near the front door, so I wanted one with a little style. It perfectly blends in with my Mexican flower pots. The barrel's wide opening catches a lot of the roof runoff easily. The knock-out plug is easy to get to so I can drain the barrel if I need to move it. Two things missing that would improve the functionality: a tap that swivels left and right to make filling watering cans easier and a place on the back to wind up and store a hose.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from LUV this rain barrel I love the look of this rain barrel on my back porch. I just set it for rainfall coming off the corner, we don't have downspouts, and it worked just fine. It filled up fast, too. Looks so much better than buckets sitting around, catching rainwater. My plants like the rainwater, and getting ready for another hot, dry summer, truly every little bit counts. Plus, I get exercise walking back and forth watering my plants. I would much rather be outside, than in the gym:)

Rated 2 out of 5 by from problem with spigot The spigot on the barrel is set too far in, the finger turn hits the barrel each time you turn it and the entire spigot flexes in and out. I called the company to ask if over time is this going to harm and break the spigot seal, no one called me back. A week later I sent the company an email, no response.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Spigot to high The spigot is to high to get all the water out. Mosquitoes can get in through screen on top. On the plus side looks great and is durable. Filled quickly with one half inch rain storm

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Very happy with this purchase This rain barrel is a good option for the front yard because it has a nice shape, not oversize, and blends in with Mexican clay planters.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good rain barrel. Well made rain barrel. Set to take water from a roof valley near our garage. A 1.5 inch rain filled the barrel.
