Disconnect from downspout and secure deeded hose up (UP) against your homes downspout. If you leave water in the barrel over winter, the ice expansion could crack it. Read Less

Answer:
The rain barrel can be left out in winter or extreme heat since it is manufactured from a rotationally molded process which involves baking the plastic material. It can withstand extreme temperatures from -40°C to + 40°C and will NOT chip, crack or fade and has UV protection.

Answer:
Three are two outlets on this barrel. It has a standard spigot about 12" off the ground, plus the hose attachment on the leg. Really a super practical setup, esoecially if you build a block vase that raises the barrel up by, say, one cinder block.

Answer:
I believe the spigot is about 12" off the ground. You need a fairly short bucket or can to put under it. It's not on the leg, but rather on the rounded side of the barrel.

Answer:
A drainpipe can direct water directly into the plastic mesh lid or into the overflow spout on the side.
You can also use one of those Rain Barrel Diverter Kits made by Fiskars and others to add more features.

Answer:
Yes & no. There's a removable cover, which is a round plastic sheet full of holes. It's supported by plastic crossbars which aren't removable. You couldn't dip a bucket into it, but you could use a smaller scoop with a handle. I don't know why you'd want to,though, because you can use the spigot that's about 12" off the ground, or connect a hose to the drainage outlet at the very bottom.

Answer:
The top is removable but there is a "Y" shaped piece of plastic under the screen holding it up. A bucket would not fit through the opening.

Rated 4.3 out of 5 by 33 reviewers.
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by How slow does it flow? Slow, slow, slow, slow! I would recommend this rain barrel, but with one caveat. And that, my fellow Home Depot shopper, is to replace the spigot with a better quality one. Ours arrived with a hole in the spigot. No problem...the manufacturer sent a new one. Well they both had incredibly slow water flow coming out of it. It seemed like it took forever and a day to fill my big watering can. We went online and bought another spigot that works infinitely better. I give this barrel high marks for looks and capacity. One good rain and the barrel was full. Excellent. We shall see how it holds up to the seasons here in VA. June 13, 2016
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Heavy Duty and Made to Last! This is well made and very functional. The pictures Home Depot provides don't do it justice. The top has a large enough screen so that you can clean the insides or dip into it to get water. The only unique thing about this rain barrel is the color. Terracotta flecks with a tad bit of green are noticeable up close. At a distance, the color appears to be more tan. July 5, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by LOVE this rain barrel! I spent hours research rain barrels. I didn't want a pickle barrel style since the placement would be in plain view. This one is perfect because it's functional, affordable and pretty. I loved the idea that this was 75 gallons as I have lots of water that comes off my flat roof. So many of the pretty barrels are only 50 gallons or less. I installed a fine mesh screen under the round grid on top to collect small debree and keep mosquitos out. I also raised the barrel an additional 10" or so and used left-over pavers from another project. Good things: looks great, 75 gallon capacity, overflow spout on top, additional threaded valve on bottom, spout high enough to put water bucket and threaded to attache hose. I connected a black overflow plumbing pipe on the top using an o-ring. Overflow is then directed to planting bed. My only wish is that the overflow on top was threaded. No biggie. I rigged it up to my satisfaction. Couldn't be happier with price, looks and function. Highly recommended. January 27, 2015
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Poor spigot design The rain barrel is large and attractive. The problem is with the spigot. When you try to open the spigot to remove water the handle comes off instead. The spigot does not open. Definitely a design flaw. The handle is threaded to tighten by turning to the right and loosen to the left. There are no lock pins or other devices to prevent the handle from coming off. March 29, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Very Nice Rain Barrel Arrived quickly to begin with which is always a plus when buying remotely, and is a very nice looking barrel. Made of heavy plastic, looks to be strong enough to last for some time and the stone look is well done, making for a pleasant looking barrel by the house. It is amazing how quickly it fills - about 2/10" of rain does the trick. The spigot is solidly installed and accepts a standard water hose thread. Already thinking about getting another one. (A diverter kit is extra) We like it! September 27, 2011
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by We liked the first one so much we ordered another Does what it is supposed to do well. Ready to go right out of the box. We liked the first one we ordered and so ordered another when we decided we want more capacity. The two together look nice in our yard. March 30, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Rain Barrel It holds water and is very attractive. I also like the material and the shape. February 10, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by looks great & high capcity Great barrel with the capacity to keep up with a good downpour. Looks great. Solid spout components. Expensive though but you'll get compliments on how good it looks. Look for rebates thru your local water co to offset price. Screen across the top is plastic and will work only if positioned with downspout lying directly on top of it - I needed mine to catch watch from a runoff spout that falls thru the air - and the screen was too rigid for this and the water just splashed everywhere- i modified by cutting a section of a filter product and secured it on top and added decorative plastic vines to conceal the modification - it still looks great.
