Thank you for your question about the R528CM Korky® Toilet Fill Valve Replacement Cap and for choosing Korky. We recommend double checking your water supply line to ensure that it is completely open. In the event that your water supply line is restricted, it may cause the fill valve to be louder than normal. If this does not fix the noise, please call our customer service line by dialing 1-800-528-3553, and we will walk you through a few checks to resolve the issue.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Works great but not enough by itself I changed both of my toilets to use the Korky units several years ago. They are much quieter than the Fluidmaster ones I had used before. When I noticed that one was no longer shutting off completely, I found this replacement cap option. It seemed great not to have to mess with changing the entire fill valve. While doing the replacement, I experienced all of the previous comments. It is not very obvious how to remove the white cover and it is not clear in the instructions. Lift up on the finger sticking out the side (lift on one side only) and it pops right off. Push it straight back down when you are done to reinstall. Once the cover is off, the cap is easy to replace (use the refill port for leverage). The rubber on the old cap had a definite hole, so I figured the new one would solve the problem. I put everything back together, turned on the water, and found the valve continued to run the same or worse than before. I shut the water back off and figured I would have to go back to get an entire new unit. Then I thought to look at the bottom side of the float arm and noticed it had some worn rubber. This turned out to be a small rubber insert that seals the air hole on the top of the cap. I plucked it out, flipped it over, inserted it back on the arm, and put everything back together. This time it all worked and the valve shut off like it is supposed to. The cap is a good solution for something that tends to wear out. The kit needs to include a replacement insert for the float arm, as well as some improvements to the instructions.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Not great. Don't know how cheaply the plastic is on the newer models, but when I replaced this recently I had a backup reserved for just this situation. Plasitic tabs on leaking (red rubber had pinpiont leak) cap snapped off while carefully removing it and the replacement cap ear tab for float attachment snapped off when putting on (gently). To add insult to injury, it leaked even worse than the broken cap. This was stored in my garage, protected from light and heat. Seems like it is too fragile to perform this most vital function for our society. When will companies devise something that will last a lifetime, and make it out of something that won't end up in a landfill?

This valve is easy to replace and very economical verses replacing the entire unit. I just had to use pliers to assist with turning it counterclockwise the required 1/8 turn in order to remove it since it has been in place for six years. Korky products are the best as far as I'm concerned!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Cost-Effective fix We have really hard water which eventually destroys every toilet valve. The good news is that I didn't have to replace the entire tower assembly, just this cap. The valve was hissing faintly and dribbling water into the bowl. Problem solved.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Korky customer service over the top First of all, kudos to Korky for not requiring a complete valve replacement. This inexpensive replacement cap can be swapped out whenever the diaphragm wears out. Second of all, insanely great customer service. I had trouble with the replacement cap not fully sealing. A call to Korky resulted in the rep patiently walking me through a procedure to clean out the float housing and flip over the circular rubber pad on the float that contacts the valve (apparently a depression can develop over the years so it doesn't press down hard enough to fully seal the valve). Problem fixed! Thanks Korky.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A very satisfying "fix." The hard part is 1) getting the fill mechanism apart and 2) getting it back together. The directions are very good as directions go but they don't quite tell you how to get the top off the fill mechanism and how to reseat it. Once you get the mechanism apart, it is really easy. The old cap comes right out and the new one just drops into place. As soon as I got it back together the running water stopped dead. It was great and for less than $4.
