I use it with a Ryobi cordless 5-3/8-inch circular saw and it works great on both 3/4-inch plywood and cross-cutting 2x6's. I leave the saw attached to the Kreg base and for cross-cutting, I just run the base against my 12-inch framing square.

You can use any as far as I know, I used it with a Craftsman. It clamps to the saw and as far as I can tell it is universal. I am not sure about the worm gear style saw though.

It says the kit combines 3 must-haves, but I'm unsure what they are. The circular saw, drill and what - a drill guide?

Answer:
There's a small Kreg screw joining set (with some starter screws, practice on some scrap wood first!), a shelf peg jig for drilling perfectly aligned shelf peg holes, and a skill saw guide that screws to the saw to rip perfect straight lines (up to 24" across).

Answer:
You should use special joining screws made for the different types of woods (plywood, solid wood...) They are readily available at most hardware stores. There are instructions is the kit that explain what you should use (or google Kreg for the info)

Rated 4.7 out of 5 by 27 reviewers.
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Excellent addition to any small workshop I purchased this kit as I was going to build my first custom kitchen cabinet for a unusual measured space. I used all three parts. The Kreg screw joint kit was excellent for joining the 3/4 plywood sides, back and front kick panel securely and neatly (it'll also thinner plywood with different screws). The saw guide also worked very well for ripping the plywood sheets down to size, although there is a limit to the width you can rip (24 inches). I used it to cut down a butcher block top. (Cutting half way through from one side the n finishing the cut on the other side, came out perfect with a bit a sanding) My only gripe is the plastic construction, although sturdy, that might break with rough repeated use. The peg hole jig was perfect for drilling holes for the pegs holding the middle shelf. Over all a great set at a decent price, and my cabinet came out pretty good for a beginner.! May 31, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by pocket hole system works great but rip cut jig doesn't Pocket hole system works great and pleased with the ease of use. I'm disappointed with the rip cut jig. When I went to attach the plastic rail to the metal saw guide I noticed that they don't form a 90 degree angle. The holes were misaligned and didn't allow for straight cuts which pretty much defeats the purpose of the product. I haven't used the shelf jig. August 2, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Well worth it! While a bit pricy the Kreg DIY Project kit is well worth it! I used to set up long boards to use a guides to make rip cuts across long pieces of plywood with a circular saw. This was error prone and tedious. With the rip cut guide one can confidently make the same cut in much less time. The guide alone is worth the $80. And then pocket hole jig makes tight joinery, as seen in the bench leng photos, a snap! If you're looking for a started wood work kit, this is it! I highly recommend it. December 29, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great tool kit I was able to build a doll bed and small chair for my 18 month old granddaughter in just one weekend out of scrap wood I had in the garage. I am very proud of the results and feel very secure knowing that no matter how she treats the items she will not get hurt by the joints separating or coming apart. Of course the first thing she did was try to figure out how she could lay in the bed herself. January 5, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Practical and easy to use Convenient and useful for non complicated joining needs. August 9, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by 2 out of 3 ain't bad The pocket hole guide was great, also the shelf pin jig. However, the circular saw guide sucks. June 7, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Rip Cut is the answer Great product does what it says. Makes ripping large pieces effortless. May 4, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great tool for DIY projects KREG tools have helped me make closets, bookcases, shelves for the garage all with professional looking recessed screws. It makes creating things out of wood easier to do without errors or split wood when trying to connect two boards together. April 28, 2015
