The Kreg Jig R3 can be secured to the work piece with any standard bar clamp or C-clamp. In addition, the R3's Clamp Pad Adapter allows the jig to be attached directly to any Kreg Face Clamp for faster and more repeatable pocket holes. Independent Positioning Sliders feature nine depth settings, allowing you to easily join materials from 1/2 in. to 1-1/2 in. thick in 1/8 in. increments. Comes with a durable carrying case to keep materials organized and to make sure that you always have the tool, drill bit, and screws on hand to complete your next project. Do I have to use specific screws?

I'm new to woodworking but do I have to use specific screws or will just wood screws work with this to build a small end table with light wood?
Asked by: Kevin
to me this is a definite yes. you need a smooth shank on the screw to be able to pull the opposing board tightly. you can find other choices on the internet. look under pocket hole screws. any screw will probably work buy you won't be happy with the results.

Can this jig be used to create pocket holes specifically for using wooden dowels instead of screws?

Asked by: Fantom
I don't see how you could do that. you would need a dowel jig.

Can i use a dewalt trigger clamp or do i have to buy a kreg face clamp?

Im not going to be using this all the time, just a few time a year when i decide to build something small. And me being a tightwad like i am, id rather spend $10 on a trigger clamp than say $20 or more for a kreg face clamp.
Asked by: Lance
I use an F clamp, guess any clamp will work but the kreg would be quicker.

How many pocket hole screws come with this kit and are they all the same or different sizes.

Asked by: Mjonesy
There are several small bags of about 10 screws each. I think there were 1", 1 1/4", 2" and 2 1/4". I was able to use the 1" and 1 1/4" for two different pallet wood frames used to for chalkboards. I have 1" x 4" white oak pallet boards and 3/4" x 4" southern yellow pine on-hand. The actual dimension of a 1" x 4" board are 3/4" x 3.5" and actual dimensions of 3/4" x 4" a board is 5/8" x 3.5" I used the 1 1/4" pocket hole screws on the white oak frame and the 1" pocket hole screws on the southern yellow pine. You definitely will need to purchase the appropriate Kreg pocket hole jigs for your project. Note that pocket hole screws come in two types, like most other screws and bolts. There are coarse and fine thread pocket hole screws. The course thread should be used for soft woods like pine and fur and the fine thread should be used for hardwoods like oak and maple.

Jig Pocket Hole System is rated 4.6 out of 5 by 217.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Quality Control flub Was missing a metal sleeve in one hole. Otherwise, worked like a charm to make a chalkboard frame. Word of advice, make sure you clamp the two pieces of wood together as the screws have a tendency to push the pieces out of alignment.

Drill bit of high quality. Only problem I had was that the tool to drill in the screws was too long in some cases. So I had to buy another #2 shorter length but it's diameter was larger. If Kreg just added a shorter length tool to drill in the screw this kit would be perfect but still I give it 5-stars. But watch the video and you would be straight. I purchased the Kreg clamp separately, however the clamp which is self adjusting was not strong enough. So I returned it and just used a regular clamp which worked fine.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A must for the beginner and the advanced builder! As a self-taught female woodworker this little tool has opened up endless possibilities to me. I started by deciding to build the farm table I have always wanted to buy but couldn't afford. This little tool opened up the world of woodworking to me. With it the complexity and intimidation of building is gone. With a good plan and this little jig I can conquer any project! Pocket holes eliminate the intimidation of complex joinery and this jig makes gauging and drilling them a piece of cake!! Since my farm table I have gone on to build at least 13 other projects for my self and have commissions coming in for farm tables....all thanks to this little tool!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Compact and useful We work as volunteers in Mexico building cabinets for Salones del Reino de los Testigos de Jehová. This is the second compact Kreg jig we have purchased. It's size makes a bit more versatile than the full-size system which we also have. The latter is excellent for face frames. Yet in our case we use the compact version on the bottom of shelf ends so that the fasteners into the end panels are "blind". The larger the piece of material the more you will like using the compact Kreg tool.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Pocket Hole Jig The Kreg pocket hole jig was a wonderful way to help build a Farm table top and Farm bench without having screws showing. The jig is pretty easy to use. Only down side is I think Kreg should give the clamp with it. It was a little hard to without a clamp but I got it done. Other then that. It was great. I would recommend it to any.

In fact, holding the jig to the work, by hand, was not difficult -- the jig design makes handhold some enough. Highly recommended -- low cost, tremendous timesaver, excellent results.
