This is the best rust discover and protectant I have found. It can be applied with a rag, brush, or spray bottle (none included).

Works like it says. It is a thin green/clear liquid much like Windex. I brushed it on with a small paint brush but it could be sprayed on. I used it on a metal door. The product did drip down and does discolor the paint where it drips. Didn't matter since I was repainting the door. I could see the rust disappearing before my eyes but let it work overnight. The next day the rust was gone and ready to paint. I used it on other surfaces that rust had run down and it cleaned up those areas too by wiping with a rag. The pictures are before and after and were taken before I repainted.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Kiki It's working!
It did take 3 coats of the Krud Kutter Rustex-Rust Converter for me to see the difference, so I would recommend more than one coat. I assume that it depends on how bad the rust is. In my case, the rust is pretty advanced. I have posted pictures for you to see. I will be painting over this. I am going to apply another coat or 2 before I paint.
This is a good size bottle and would cover a big job.
The product is very easy to use. Could not be more simple. No strong or irritating odor. Basically, you just brush it on the rusted area. I waited 24 hours between each coat. If you are looking for a simple fix, this is it!

Bought a tractor with a mower deck that had not been maintained. Ground out all of the loose rust and treated the remaining metal with Rust-ex Converter. Did two treatments on the deck surface with both being left for at least 24 hours. Was expecting a different result based on past materials that I have used. Some of the surface was dry, some was lumpy and some was gooey. Before priming I had to "degoo" the surface and them sand the entire area to get it even remotely smooth enough to work with. I was expecting to do some sanding but I was expecting a more pronounced black modified surface as opposed to the spotty surface that I had. Have used other rust converters that made a more definite black covering and seemed to seal better. Have to wait and see how well it works and that will be a few years at least, I hope.

Great product use it on my tools and out door equipment. I also just repainted the hinges for my desk after converting rust with Krud Kutter Rustex. Worked great I have many more Rustex jobs ahead of me this summer.

I used this rust converter to renew my heavily-rusted 4" square steel RV bumper, inside and out. Remove loose rust with a wire brush before applying. It's little thicker than water, and it was easy to apply with an old mop inside the bumper. I used a paint brush on the outside. I applied a second coat as suggested on the heavily rusted places, and avoided applying where the existing paint was intact on the exterior of the tube (per advice gleaned from internet forums). A coat of rustoleum bare metal primer, and two coats of rustoleum semi-gloss finished the job. The rustoleum primer appears to have adhered well to the rust converter. Good products all.

This product worked exactly as described on rusted folding metal doors. Sand lightly after application dries before spraying primer.

It's a wonderful way to prepare a surface without sandblasting to get into tight areas. I did use a sander and wire wheel on a drill to smooth some heavier rusted surfaces before I applied the rust converter. I like the idea of this being so quick and easy to use, and it certainly prepares the surface for painting. I turned a pair of home made iron and rusted car ramps into a pair of beautiful - better than ever - car ramps. I used a good quality primer and paint as a top coat. I very much appreciate not going through all the time and hassle of sand blasting, especially for a smaller job.
