Answer:
No you don't need softened water to use this, but you can if you have the softener. I don't have one and I have hard water. I am also on city water.

I don't quite understand what your question is. Are you asking can a water softener be connected to the unit? If so, most water softeners are connected to the main water valve in your home. This unit is just for kitchen use or, if you want you could also connect it in your master bed bathroom under your sink. I don't quite understand what your question is. Are you asking can a water softener be connected to the unit? If so, most water softeners are connected to the main water valve in your home. This unit is just for kitchen use or, if you want you could also connect it in your master bed bathroom under your sink. I'm assuming the answer to your question is NO, this does not require the water to be softened before reaching the unit itself. Overall, this unit just purifies drinking water.

Answer:
Yes. The one handle faucets have two inlets both being controlled by the position of the handle. So as long as it is on the cold side you will get filtered water. I installed mine on a single handled faucet and it works great.

Customer Reviews

Rated 4.1 out of 5 by 49 reviewers.
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Plastic fitting failure I am echoing the review that faulted the plastic fittings for leaking. I gave it a shot, but the male fitting kept leaking. July 30, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great Filter and a snap to install I installed two of these filters, one in my house and one in my sons apartment. Took all of ten minutes to install each. When my son moved I transferred his to his new apartment. I set mine up before the water supply to the refrigerator. This eliminated the need for a dedicated 'refrigerator' filter which saved me about $100 per year for those filters. Still working on the originally installed cartridges after one year. My son needs to replace his every 3 or 4 months due to the dirty water supply in his building in NYC, but at least he is getting clean water now. August 1, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Nice Engineering, Easy to Install Really simple installation under the sink for this 80 yer old non-plumber August 2, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Didn't install at all The principle of the Kube is solid and a great idea, but I was unable to install it. I think because they used plastic adapters instead of metal. When I fit the adapter on the water valve, water drips from beneath the fitting. The adapter was an exact fit, the threads stayed intact, and I tightened it well. I even had them send me a new adapter. When I called customer service, all the guy could tell me is that the adapter should work. No help whatsoever. Because kinetico chose to use non-standard fittings, it is impossible to replace the parts with better quality parts. I re-hooked up the faucet line ... no drips. It has to be a poorly designed adapter. Maybe I have a quirky valve, but everything works fine when I disconnect the Kube. I hope others have better luck. I love the idea of this thing and am very disappointed that it doesn't work. I spent nearly a week trying to get it to work for that reason. July 20, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Love this! Just had my plumber install, so I can't comment on how much of a diy project this is. So far I love this water filter! The water pressure on cold has a very minimal drop-barely even noticeable. The water is very clean and clear. The filters are easy to change (I haven't changed them yet, but watched my plumber install). No leaks so far. I previously had the pur faucet mount and the water looks and tastes better with the Kube. Plus, the water comes out so much faster now!! July 12, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Advanced Water Filtration System The product works well to remove bad tastes from the water we drink in our home. June 21, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Water is good, installation easy We bought the Kube because our water pressure was a little high and blew the ends off the Pur facet filters. Pur works up to about 60 lbs. Our water pressure is 80. The Kube functions up to about 110 lbs. The advantage to the Kube, other than the pressure issue, is that it runs right through your facet. I waited about two weeks to make this review and the water has been perfect, no chlorine taste. Now as to installation. I read one review where the person complained about the plastic push-fit connectors. Mine too stripped with little effort. But I went back to Home Depot, bought a 1/4X 3/8 OD, Shark Bite Push-Fit connector and presto attached with ease. The Shark Bite is metal. The other thing that one should be ready for is that if you have a facet on the sink with the metal attachment, you should just leave it attached and put the supplied/or a Shark Bite onto the end of the hose and attach that to the Kube. We now are waiting to see how long the filters last. As of this moment I would buy this anew. Easy to put in no plumbing degree needed. Water tastes good. So far meets our needs. If something happens with the filter, something negative, I shall update. May 24, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by FIJI WATER GOOD For the LONGEST time I have been drinking ONLY FIJI water. I know, its expensive, but worth it. I love the taste (or lack of taste) from FIJI water. My wife is a water snob and wouldn't let me buy any other water, even to save some money. This went on for years. Now, we are pregnant with twins and its time to SAVE money, (had to put my foot down). I told her, we have to switch water brands or go to the refrigerator water.. In our area, FL Pinellas we have a chlorine smell to the water.. YUCK.. so, I was looking for the BEST water filter on the market for my area. My wife understood the need to save money as I was spending 3-400 a month on FIJI. She wanted me to buy an RO GE product, but after reading the adv here, I went for the KUBE.. after install (which was a snap) we filtered and started the taste test... "it's amazing" Exact words from my Water Snob Wife!!! Take my word for it, the water is "the same or if not, BETTER than FIJI water".. One second benefit is that I have a water connection on my island, and just use that for my fill water. So, I cut off the Hot and just left the cold water connection. CON: if you have a sink that combines cold and hot, with one handle this might not work best for you. Unless you can figure out how to make the cold and hot water lines combine and filter into the KUBE (not sure if that recommended) or do what I did... August 19, 2015
