Purchased this mixer to pour new footings to repair 220' of seawall down at LOTO that had been washed out. We mixed 160 - 60lb bags of concrete over a 2 day period. Just getting the bags down a 100' hill and over the seawall was hard enough work, but this little mixer was a time saver when it came time to mix.
Mixed 2 - 60 lb bag at a time, you could do 3 - 60 lb bags per mix, but 2 bags was just right, The bag material had fine aggregate and the large aggregate was no more than a 1/2" in size, the mixer did great with this, would imagine it would do well with larger aggregate, but maybe most of the smaller bag products come with the smaller aggregate.
Since the form work came out only 8" from the existing wall we could not dump directly from the mixer, not a big deal, just dumped it out on a sheet of plywood and started the next batch while we shoveled the mixed concrete into the forms.
I did some looking around at a number of mixers, this one was priced very well for what you get. With the direct drive gear motor this is a smooth set up with the HDPE mixing drum attaching directly to the gearbox output shaft. The earlier models had a car flexplate and a chain drive and these are still around, but the gearbox is the way to go.
I did check to see the gearbox had the correct amount of gear lube inside since I read some others that purchased this mixer said the gearbox did not come with lube.
The back plate for the HDPE mixing drum is well made, I did coat the output shaft and the connection to the drum with grease so these would disassemble. I made sure the bolts for the S.S. mixing blades were tight and as thin as they look they work great.
The wheels are nice and solid, no air required, just grease the fittings, and the steel tubing frame is well made.
The only thing I would recommend to Kushland would be to have a little larger diameter bolts connecting the gearbox/motor assembly on to the frame, these are the bolts that bolt the gearbox together, but don't know if there is enough metal in the gearbox housing to take larger bolts, I will at least change mine out with some grade 8's.
Again, great little mixer for the money.

The mixer works well, appears to be reasonably well made.
The assembly instructions and info on the box should include:
ADD 10OZ OF 75-90wt SYNTHETIC GEAR OIL TO THE GEAR BOX
GREASE THE WHEEL BEARING BEFORE USING TO PREVENT WATER INTRUSION
GREASE THE MAIN SHAFT WHERE THE DRUM MEETS THE GEARBOX

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Rubymama Excellent Product, my husband loves it!
I bought this for hubby for fathers day. It took about 20 minutes to put it all together. The materials were all inclusive and it was very sturdy. The drum cleans out easily with a hose, the handles retract a little which helps a little for storage. We had to put bricks under the back end to get a good mix and also so he wouldn't have to lift the bags so high to dump the concrete in. No biggie. Also, mix it exactly like it says on the machine, don't think you know more than it does.
I was debating between this and the cheaper model because of the height issue, but I am very glad I went with this one, it just seems sturdier.
It's very quiet too.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by bobk Makes my mixing concrete much easier than wheelbarrow and shovel.
Where it was taking me 6 to 8 hours to mix and pour 34 bags of 80lb concrete I can do it now in 3.

We have laid over 100 feet of sidewalk using this portable cement mixer and it makes the perfect mix every time. Two things I would change; provide a better seal between the motor plate and mixing chamber to prevent cement mix from getting all over the motor assembly and they should provide a cheap plastic water bucket marked at the quantity of water needed for 40Lb, 60Lb and 80Lb quikcrete mix. I am very happy with my purchase and highly recommend it to anyone crazy enough to do their own cement work.

This turned out to be a very productive mixer. I loved the ability to easily roll the mixer right up to the site and pour in. The curved skids made pouring easy. Much better than other mixers I have used.
It is a work out and takes some planning to position the mixer carefully to pour into the right spot. When working on a slope I staked in a 2x4 stop to hold the unit back from the pour site.
I found that putting the water in first then the dry concrete material helped. I mixed my own concrete with water, gravel, sand and cement in about 1 cubic foot /8 gallon batches. This is the order I used
1. Place about 3/4 of the water in.
2. Place 1/2 of the gravel into the water. (if doing multiply batches this cleans off the leftover paste from the last batch).
3. Place 1/2 of the sand
4. Place about 3/4 of the cement.
5. Mix. I would lift the handles up about 3-4 inches.
6. Get the sand, gravel, cement and water all ready for the second half of the mix.
7. In fairly quick order put in the 2nd half of the sand/gravel the cement and then the water. It is important to get the water in right after the cement.
8. Mix for a minute or so and make sure to lift the handles. I knew it was mixing well if I heard "thawump" as the concrete mixed in the drum.
9. Roll to site and pour.
10. Scrape out mixer and get the last part of the batch out of the drum
Watch your water to cement ration. Too much water weakens the concrete. Not enough water does not allow for everything to mix well. I found that if there were unmixed pockets of material in the mixer I needed to add just a little more water. I had to monitor how wet my sand and gravel were and adjust accordingly. The wetness of sand/gravel can change from morning to afternoon
I am really glad I bought this mixer

Needed a mixer that could fit through a door way into the basement area- this is a perfect unit for that and well balanced. Easily does two bags- no problems with the unit so far- have done 50 or 60 bags with no issues. Its also just like the units that the HD rents out
