Rated 3.2 out of 5 by 37 reviewers.
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Know what you're buying I've read a lot of reviews on this product and the biggest problem I've noticed when reading reviews on this is people were expecting cool refrigerated air from the unit. If that's why you're expecting, this is NOT the product for you. What you want is an AC unit. The unit does produce cooler air, not cold air. Think of it like a fan on steroids. It won't "cool" a room like many reviewers expected. What it does is provide cooler comfortable air. I live in the Inland Empire down in Southern California where it gets really hot in the summer time. And it does what it's supposed to do. I turn it on in conjunction with my central air and it basically prolongs the cooler air trapped inside making the AC not turn on so much making my electric bill less. It does have a metallic type of smell so once or twice a month I'll buy some swamp cooler treatment which seems to help. The fan is also pretty strong so there is a nice breeze. If you get out of the mind frame that this is an air conditioning unit then I think you'll be pleased. May 21, 2015
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by DO NOT BUY!!! I was skeptical of all the negative reviews for this product, but now I see why- DO NOT BUY THIS ITEM. I live in Colorado, with nearly 0% humidity. Right now we are facing 90 degree weather daily INSIDE OUR HOUSE, but can't have the windows open due to poor air conditions as a result of all the wildfires. I spent several hours researching all of our options, and figured this was the best, as we could keep the windows closed to keep the smoke smell out. After running on low water flow for several hours, the room was hotter than the rest of the house, and felt super muggy and sticky. I'm definitely sticking my old trusty box fan after this experience. June 28, 2012
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Just doesn't cut it. I did a lot of research on ac units and evaporative coolers before I decided to try this one. We live in Colorado with lower humidity so I figured it would be great. Unfortunately it just doesn't cut it. We followed the directions to a t- made sure there was an open window right next to it to draw from, etc. When it is 70 or 80 degrees out it does OK. Not great. Once we hit 90 to 100 degree temps it was worthless. Tried working with it for a few weeks but then gave up. We exchanged it for a frigidaire ac window unit. Within 15 mins or house was cooler than the Kuulaire had ever gotten it. Also we were constantly filling it up with water- not a big deal but a bit of a pain. June 28, 2013
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Falls Short of Expectations No assebly required and easy to operate but does not perform as described. Cool air can only be felt within 6" from the vent. Had to place a high powered fan directly infront of the vent in order to feel the slightest cool air more than a foot away from the cooler. The box says you can use it to "cool with or without humidity" but the instruction booklet says to cool, you must turn the moisture control to "High" and that lower settings are only for humidifying the area. Maybe it will be more useful in the wintertime when it is dry and I don't need it to cool. August 12, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by works great I live in Las Vegas where we have two seasons hot and hotter. 0 % humidity 366 days a year. I followed the instruction and have the left the unit running for 30 days without turning it off. I have a digital thermometer attached to it and it consistently puts out 65-68 degree temperature with the moisture setting at max. It keeps our room at 76 degrees with outside temperatures between 100-110 degrees. It is not advertised as and air conditioner and was not expecting one. So if you have low humidity and follow the direction this is a great alternative to a power consuming window air conditioner. July 2, 2012
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by triple e , easy ,efficient , energy freindly Does exactly what it says & does it well. Easy to fill. I rolled it over to the sink & pulled the flex faucet out , aimed & filled. The fill is easy to get at. Once I got it filled , I kept a gallon bottle of water next to it & topped it off. Pretty quiet on low not to bad on higher settings. You can customize your cooling very easily. Just remember , it is for drier climates & you MUST have a draw. So crack a window or door. My main roof unit went down for water leak repair. We spiked to 90 degree days in Palm Springs. This baby pulled us through. April 10, 2013
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by DISAPPOINTED WE WERE VERY EXCITED TO PURCHASE THIS AFTER READING THE REVIEWS ABOUT HOW MUCH IT COOLED DOWN A HOT ROOM> THE BEST IT WILL COOL DOWN IS JUST TWO DEGREES WHICH ISN"T A LOT WHEN THE ROOM TEMPURATURE IS EIGHT FIVE DEGREES> WE WILL BE RETURNING THIS UNIT> FOR THE AMOUNT OF WATER < A GALLON AN HOUR< I CAN PUT SOME ICE IN A PLASTIC VACUUM SEAL BAG AND PUT IN FRONT OF A FAN WHICH WILL COOL MORE THAN THIS UNIT AND THEN I CAN REFREEZE THE BAGS AND REUSE AGAIN> July 22, 2014
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by This air cooler is a piece of junk I bought this last year thinking it was going to cool my upstairs bedroom during the summer. It did a good job other the fact I would have fill it once a day with a few pitchers of water. I would have not bought it when I learned that I had to dumped it out once a week. Then when I turned it on this summer, it was making a loud sound. I had my handyman look into it and when he started taking it apart, other pieces started to break. I returned it for store credit and bought an air conditioner. Pay the little extra and get an portable air conditioner!. June 17, 2013
