lock was easy to install but the plastic in it makes it wear out quickly. this is the second one ive installed in the same door. only used this one because it matches the other hardware on the door.

I accidentally broke the existing dead bold and thought this bronze color was pretty and matched the door hardware well. It was a low price shipped quick and looks great :)

I got this to replace a 30 year old Kwikset that finally broke. I was able to use the existing bolt assembly without change. All I had to do was replace the key and latch cylinders.
But as other reviewers mention, some things have changed. I found the materials to just seem cheaper. I don't think it will be another 30 years for this one. Also, the inside turn piece has much tighter tolerance to the faceplate which doesn't feel as good on the fingers, especially if you have long fingernails. The old turn piece felt substantial, this one feels cheap.
Otherwise, it is nice to be able to keep my key. For an extra $5 a helpful employee at Home Depot rekeyed my cylinder perfectly so my old keys still work. Very much worth it, and he did a perfect job. This is important since I have 5 different cylinders and didn't want to change brands or key types.
But the feeling of this lock has me worried, and if another breaks, I'll consider rekeying the entire house with a more substantial and sturdy product.

Replaced a brass one with a new satin nickel. The new one almost matches my Kwikset door nob right below it (no one can notice unless you get right up next to them). The only problem is the piece that goes in the door frame is not the same size as the old one (also Kwikset). Additional work needed to be done to the door frame to get the piece to fit correctly. Why would they change the size...so aggravating. We ended up keeping the brass piece in the door frame, as it still worked with the new nickel deadbolt. Just a heads up that this is not a 5 minute fix to swap out colors if you have an older Kwikset deadbolt and don't have a handyman around :).

I bought a 4 set at Walmart. 2 deadbolts 2 door knobs. Keyed alike. No real idea what the part number is because there was nothing on package. It is a "deal" to buy 2 full door sets. Instructions tell you how to drill holes... They are already there!!! Internet and utube is how I learn all home repairs because I'm a middle aged woman. I repair entire toilets, garbage disposals, replace electrical outlets, etc.. Since there was no data on model... Utube found nothing. I don't know what these are I bought at Walmart but after 2 weeks of no security. Throwing in trash. I have never posted a comment before. I will not buy kwikset next time. I struggled too because last were Brinks are so easy but wanted to try. Terrible instructions, terrible part number identity... Throwing in trash. If I can repair my 1999 car, plumbing, electrical, install my own laminate flooring, etc using utube but can install these...
